Where is the expansion draft?

I started a 1971 league, with the intention of eventually taking over Seattle, and trying to build a winner through expansion. So I simmed the first six years to October, 1976, to get some history in the game, and then when I went in to take over the Mariners, there was no upcoming expansion draft? I do have the settings set up for automatic expansion, so is that not correct, and or do I need to do something else?

The expansion draft is usually set up after the World Series during the offseason (I want to say around November-January window).

If you finish the World Series and do the MVP Voting, you should see something about 'Submit Expansion Lists' when you click the Sim button up top.

The expansion teams/draft should show up as soon as "the offseason begins" and it should be scheduled immediately after Free Agents file, provided of course A) you have "automatically expand league" enabled in the historical settings and B) have not altered the Historical league set up in any way. Once you alter the default historical league structure the league will no longer follow historical lines (From my experience)

How do you start a Historical Game at the point of the Expansion Draft?

Like if you want to start as the GM and Manager of the Mets or Astros. And draft your new team from the existing teams.

Start a game in 1961 and remain unemployed. Sim the season. On the first day of the offseason, enable the commissioner Mode and take a job with the Astros or Mets.

Yeah, Its a bit awkward to do that. And it requires commissioner Mode

One great improvement would be support to allow you to select any date as the starting point. All of the transactions (except injuries) are in the database so you could join before, after or during the season. You could replay your favorite pennant race (maybe even have a multi-player replay of a historical pennant race)
