1900-1950 Names

In the thread for my 1850 name set, someone asked me about what names they should use to cover the first half of the 20th century, and I did not have a good answer for them. Eventually, I will make a Questdog's Names Mod for every decade, but not untill I need them for myself.

So, I threw together this file that is a quick and dirty solution to names from 1900 to 1950.

1900-1950_first_names.zip
1900-1950_names.zip

There is no world.xml file for this. Use the one from my 1850 names set or my 1970 name set, depending on whether you want segregation or not.

To save space so I could upload it directly here, the following name sets are not represented in the file:

4 Chinese
5 Portuguese
6 Dutch
10 Norwegian
11 Finnish
12 Swedish
17 Arabic
19 African
21 Albanian
22 Serbian
24 Turkish
25 Danish
26 Armenian
27 Indian
29 Azerbaijan
30 Polynesian
33 French Canadian
34 Filipino
35 Romanian
36 Indonesian
37 Pakistani
38 Vietnamese

(Technically they ARE represented with 1 name for each set so you will not have any crashes or anything)

96.5% of MLB players came from the USA during this period, about 2.5% were of Hispanic origin (mostly Cuba) and the other 1% came mostly from Europe and Canada. And the Europeans usually Anglicized their names anyway when they came to America, so you won't be missing anything if you only use the 0 and 1 sets for MLB and 39 for the Negro Leagues. The 39 set is not an accurate representation of Negro league names; it will do in a pinch, but if you are serious about creating a fictional Negro League, you should look for better names.

So, now you can cover all of MLB history in a reasonable fashion with Questdog's names.

For 1850 to 1900: Use Questdog's 1850 Name set.
For 1900 to 1950: Use the files posted here.
For 1950 to 2000: Use Questdog's 1970 Name set (found in Questdog's Names for OOTP 16)
For 2000 and on to infinity: Use the default OOTP 18 names.

As my Liberty League progresses to new decades I will make new sets of much higher quality than this, but this will do in the meantime.

If you do not know how to use these files, check out the read-me in either or both the 1850 name set and Questdog's Names for OOTP 16.

P.S. Actually only the first names of set 0 are 'quick and dirty'; I have already created the last names for every decade of the 0 set from 1850 to 2000 in the standard Questdog quality. This file is actually my 1920 set.
