Cities with same name in same state
Getting all cities/towns in the file has it's consequences, most notably with places having the same name in a state. Obviously one way to do this is to add the county, so it would read "Washington (XXX County)" and "Washington (YYY County).
There are simply too many to do. Is there any way to tell, when inputting the city into the game, which is which? If two "Washington"s came up, would the user somehow be able to tell which Washington they were in? |

I didn't think this was possible. If I recall correctly, the US Postal Service (back when it was the US Postal Department) decreed that it wouldn't deliver mail to municipalities that shared the same name in the same state, and that move forced many towns to change their names. I know that Illinois used to have multiple Washingtons and such, but that was all sorted out a long time ago. Is this really a problem still?
As for differentiating between two or more municipalities with the same name, I'd just give them a number (Washington1, Washington2, etc.) or else a directional modifier (Washington (North), Washington (West), etc.). |
