Does This Guy Look Caucasian To You?
He doesn't to me:
I'm not sure how this happened. It's important that my dynasty stay all Caucasian for the early years, because it makes the most historical sense. Other facial types will make their way into the dynasty in later years. Has anyone else experienced something like this? How common is it? |

Looks like the real life Charles Johnson. I know on a lot of the historical facegen guys, they all say Caucasian.
It is probably related to that. |

I have run into that problem in the Facegen package before. Don Sutton was black... Reggie Jackson was white...

When generating pictures, OOTP doesn't differentiate historical from fictional. It will automatically go out and grab a matching facegen file if the name of the player matches, regardless of the player's in-game ethnicity. "Oh, here's Charles_Johnson.fg! I'll use that!" Having a matching facegen file effectively renders the ethnicity irrelevant.
It's not so much a bug as an unintended logical consequence. On the player page, you should be able to generate a new fictional picture which will follow the ethnicity. |

What ericqjaffe said. That looks like Charles Johnson, 1990s-era catcher for the Marlins among other teams. If you have the Gambo facegen pack, a good way to differentiate a guy with the same name as a real-life big leaguer is to give him a middle intital, then just give him a new fictional face for whatever ethnicity you want.

I could see it looked like Charles Johnson, but I didn't really contemplate why that would be.

This happens to me in my 1940's and 1950's fictional leagues. I simply consider it a case of Lee Smith breaking the color barrier before Jackie Robinson.
This way it makes it fun to see who will be the first black player in history. Currently, Lee Smith is the only two-time winner of this honor.

It happens to me all the time with the two Billy Hamiltons.

This is one of the funnier recurring elements in my MLB QS leagues; I don't know how it works in your game, but I always get the face of Sliding Billy Hamilton attached to the player born 125 years later. I also get the face of the 'other' Pedro Martinez on the incomparable #45, leading to a really weird-looking HoF induction card.
