Started mostly FTP and that was very fun. The feeling of beating more talented teams with good strategy is very rewarding.
Down the road, I decided to spend some money, and that was fun too. At some point, most FTP teams will hit a wall in perfect. So I injected $100 to get over that, and it was very effective (100+ wins on the regular now). I usually end up losing to a thousand dollar megawhale in the playoffs, but that is OK. As long as you set appropriate expectations for the amount you spent, you can have a good time at any level of spending IMO. Don't expect to win perfect championships with a free team and you won't be disappointed (it is possible, but unlikely for the most part). |

I was originally one of the people who argued for separate free/low & whale, but now see (yes, I was wrong), having won a Diamond WS, that you can climb fairy high on $20. Patience, baby...

Only what I paid for OOTP 20. Mostly open packs, do AH occasionally for a position that's weak and haven't been having luck on the draws and sell duplicate cards in the AH. Still weighing putting my peak Lee Smith from the Corsairs in there but using him with an 89 Bruce Sutter as tandem stoppers.

Nothing so far. I was planning to spend a little at the start of the year (nothing crazy, like $20 every couple months or something), but going from one team on PT '19 to three teams this year has kept me plenty entertained with different themes etc.
I have been thoroughly pleased that two of my teams eventually made Perfect, and one even has a (short) playoff appearance there I wouldn't have expected that to happen, which is nice. Anyway, plenty of folks playing different ways, it's cool

$90 on my $ team (Brooklyn Dynasty), $20 on pack only (Metuchen Mariners), $0 on my other teams.
Rather give my money to these guys who give us a fantastic game than most other companies who poop out mediocrity on a regular basis. |

This is a $50 roster? You pull a million PP card in 75 packs on Day 1?

Hmm...he calls himself a harvester. He could be very good at the market thing. I'm not particularly great at it, if I were as good at that, as at some other aspects of the game, I imagine I could do a lot more with a lot less...
The devs did mention they were surprised by what one player was able to do (reported cheating), found out to be clean. Only saying it's possible, not probable

At this point in the game you can definitely have that team with a nominal investment if you have a little luck and put in a lot of time on the market.
If the initial PP were invested in live rendons and chapmans then week one you could already be sitting near a million points. Lots of dirt cheap historicals ended up being key collection pieces and fetched 10-50x profits. Last edited by dkgo; 09-17-2019 at 10:46 AM. |

If that team is a clean build as claimed, it was also a full time job. I'm retired, but I still don't have the time (nor the will) to make this a 24 hour job.

This is assuming the team has been built over time and didn't look like that in May. |

If this really is a $50 team, that's amazing. Somehow he went from a losing Iron team in Season 1 to a monster in Season 2 on $50.

Yeah. The fact that the improvements came all at once makes the claim questionable without the best pack luck ever.

It's certainly possible to build a team off of $50, but it takes an insane amount of luck to do it that early (huge pull, sell, huge pull, sell, repeat dozens of times). So, if he did do it, it's a terrible example for everyone else. Basically the guy who wins $1 million on slots his first time at Vegas telling everyone they can win, too. Legit or not, there's no way whatever he did should be taken by someone today as inspiration of what could be with minimal investment.

I would love to see a screenshot or two from his transaction register to show where the 4-5 million points came from...

I certainly got my perfect Walter Johnson inside my first 50 packs, which then sold for up to 800k PP (though I kept mine), and with 800k PP you can certainly do a lot…
...but I can't imagine the tedium of having to open those 800 packs.
