Almanac Speed

I've noticed that as the years go on, the time it takes to download to the Almanac is getting ridiculous. Its doing that now, and at year 2022, its now taken over 2 hours and is still going.

Are there any tips and tricks to make this a faster process? I have a brand new laptop (vista, 3gb ram, centrino dual core) and have no issues with speed anywhere else.
