Request: 40 teams, 162 games
Hi Everyone,
I looked at the big schedule thread, and couldn't find anything quite like what I am looking for. I would love a schedule of: 40 teams 162 games 2 subleagues, 4 divisions each, 5 teams each division Each team plays the other teams in its division 18 times (9H/9A) for 72 total games. Each team plays the other teams in its subleague 6 times (3H/3A) for 90 games. No interleague play, no all-star game either. Thanks for your help! |

This is pretty close, though it does have an ASG. Might not take much to edit it out manually. Or perhaps gmo would be willing to tweak it for you.

Yeah I saw that one - I thought it was strange that the scheduler had 8-10 games against in-division opponents instead of just doing an even 9.
I'll be honest - I'm not sure how I would go about editing the file. |

I feel like every so often I try to do a brief explanation of this - I should commit to doing it well once then just reference that. Until then...
The reason to go with 8 or 10 games is to get in 4-game series. With some 4-game series then you do not have an offday every week and the 162 games can fit into the same length as MLB uses. Doing all 3-game series means every team has one offday each week, which is a little more frequently than what MLB does. Because of that the season has to be a week longer than current MLB (ignoring the detail of having All-Star Break or not). The days of week could be ignored to squeeze out "extra" offdays, but that is a whole other thing. Anyway, up to you... If you want the longer-than-MLB-in-days but all even numbers of H/A matchups, I could do a new something, or if you were good with the MLB-length-in-days type but with some 8/10 sets instead of all 9 games, I would probably tweak an existing. Let me know.
