Great Sports Documentaries
I just watched the ESPN short "the Schedule Makers" and came here thinking there'd be a thread about it and while there have been many on schedule making I couldn't find one about this short (surely, LGO, you've seen it, no?). I've watched a number of the ESPN 30 for 30 series and most of their short films too. It was interesting, but the Great Imposter one was more so (I'm ashamed to not have known about him) as was the Tommy John and Frank Jobe one.
Of the 30 for 30 films I've seen, the best was "Once Brothers" about Divac and Petrovic. It was incredibly moving. "The Best That Never Was" was awesome too. EDIT: I've since watched "You Don't Know Bo" and it was fantastic as well. Recently I saw "The Book of Manning" and, while I'm not a fan of Peyton or Eli, I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially how it all centered around Archie who IMO is by far the most likeable. "Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals" was another great sports doc too. What sports documentaries have you really enjoyed and would highly recommend?

Comcast Chicago recently had 3 Outs on about the 2003 collapse in Game 6 on the NLCS. The 30 for 30 about Bo Jackson was good. Baseball by Ken Burns is my all time favorite.

Alot of the 30 for 30's are good. Ghosts of Ole Miss is a great one. Same with You don't know Bo and Pony Express. Best one has to be a King's Ransom though.

The Real Rocky (TV Movie 2011) - IMDb
I enjoyed The Real Rocky about the career and life of Chuck Wepner. Chuck's 'rocky' moment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_92K8k31rU

How did you not mention Baseball | PBS in the OP?!
EDIT: The Whitman quote on that front page is my favorite baseball quote. It's from 1846. |

I thought my best thrift store find ever was the huge accompanying hardcover book. I got it in great condition for 5 bucks. I later saw that it is fairly reasonable online, but at the time I thought it was a steal. It's a great coffee table book. |

Glad to see a mention of Once Brothers. Whenever I see mention of 30 for 30 it never gets mentioned. It was a powerful and moving piece about sports and the saddest chapter in European history since the end of WW2. |
