Player positions incorrect

I started a league in 1946. Why are some players listed at a position that they have no rating for? 2 Quick examples would be Red Schoendienst (listed at LF but rating is at 2B) and Johnny Hopp (listed at RF but his rating are at CF and 1B). What causes these people to be listed at the wrong position. Is it just they are in the global database incorrectly?

If you allow an historical game to run itself based on AI evaluations, from any point thereon the AI will begin making its own decisions which may not be historically accurate. I think, therefore, you need to look into the historical options, particularly:
  • Use Real Historical Lineups (becomes available only if Use Real Historical Transactions is activated first), and
  • Base Roles/Positions On (either AI Evaluation or Real Life Stats - you want the latter, of course)
When you activate the Real Historical options, you will see the game load historical databases in the background. They will contain the accurate positions for Red Schoendienst and Johnny Hopp, I bet, and they will play most of their time at these positions. There may be some shuffling still but I think your results will appear more accurate.

I started a new league I did noticed that doing that changed their positions to 2B and 1B for those 2. I have a concern though, I am running this league as commissioner with 13 other owners and only 14 teams instead of 16 as in MLB as the time. Will any of the settings you mentioned affect that?

It happens in all league types. The AI defaults to the best batting lineup (not order). If that means playing a 35 year old 1B at SS and sacrificing all semblance of IF defense so be it. To me this is the biggest flaw in the current game. Real life lineups and batting orders are not rigidly calculated; the game should reflect the balance between hitting and fielding if it to be considered realistic.

Rant over.
