I'm normally pro-union but, hey, way to stick it to the man, eh? Who cares about national prestige and pride?

Leverage. Businesses use it all the time and no one talks about national pride when the jobs go.

Glad to see that there are still consequences to shooting your stupid mouth off, even if it is only electronically.

Good news on both accounts. Is that just the passport inspectors or all the transportation workers who were contemplating walkouts?

Bus and tube staff have been awarded extra money so I'm thinking their strike won't be happening.

Let's hope the London games coordinators get a quick lesson in geography to avoid any more incidents like yesterday.

Yes, and I just got done reading the article in my newspaper that talks about what I think you are alluding to: Displaying the South Korean flag on the jumbo-screen while the North Korean soccer team was being introduced.

I have done some dumb things in my life, but still. How can you be either so stupid or so careless as to NOT DOUBLE CHECK something like that? And do it to one of the most sensitive, insecure, trigger-happy countries in the world, using the national symbol of their mortal enemy?

Unless . . . it was deliberate.

It wasn't in London unless Rudel is referring to something else.

A It had nothing to do with geography it was a flag mix up.

B It was Glasgow not London, now that is a geography mix up

C No doubt if they didn't fear a spell in a work camp or such the North Koreans would have had a laugh about, like they should have done maybe like the GB womens team had a laugh during the national anthem the other day were there wasn't all this song and dance bs.

Not to get into semantics but I said London Games coordinators. The tournament in Glasgow I am guessing had IOC officials working it.

Well if that's the biggest non sporting story of the Olympics when it ends I'll take that, anyway onto the sporting part of the Olympics. Went watching the GB v Senegal and UAE v Uruguay game, both lacked a football atmosphere simply because neither was really a football crowd infact most seemed liked they'd gone just so they could say they'd been to the Olympics.

One thing I'd like to point out that I noticed when I watched the highlights when I got home was that Craig Bellamy wasn't booed nor were any of the other GB team, the booing infact was because people didn't want to join in the mind boring Mexican wave < whoever invented that needs locking up forever. Suarez from Uruguay was booed but mostly by people who didn't know why they were booing him.

There was one major disaster though and that was I got put next to an American who was a Yankees fan although when I asked him was his first name 1998 he kind of looked at me funny and tried to move to another seat He'd come over for the athletics and boxing but managed to get a ticket for the "soccer" at which I had to explain to him it was football, pretty much passed the time after that having a discussion on why football (soccer) should be called football and why football (NFL) was called football when you rarely touched it with your foot.

Actually going to meet up again when I go down watching the cycling.
