Will Randy Johnson be the king...

of Hit Batsmen?

He is 22 shy of tying Walter Johnson's career record of 203, 15 shy of 2nd place Eddie Plank, and just 1 shy of 3rd place Joe McGinnity. Will he get the 23 needed to get to 1st place?

I hope so. I'm really looking forward to seeing an all-time milestone get passed in the next year or two, and I can't think of any other one on the horizon. I'm really excited!

Bud Selig better be there!

As long as Johnson's not facing the Giants, he will be.

I'd heard it said that Walter Johnson didn't pitch inside for fear of injuring the opposing batters. He had good control for a hard thrower and still leads the all-time list in hit batters. Doesn't seem that notion of gentlemanliness, in this particular instance, really jibes with the numbers.

Pitched until he was forty-freaking-six, and still didn't pull it off! 190, tied with Plank.

He'll have to pitch again first.

Sorry... I assumed that a 6-year-old thread wouldn't still be active. (No insult intended)

Every time I see or hear about Randy Johnson and/or Cliff Lee it brings back painful Expos memories!

Now a six year old thread comes out of nowhere!!!

Johnson was fun to watch pitch, I can't imagine standing in the box with him. I played a year of county fastball back in the day and there was no 'no jump' rule. After playing hardball my whole life having a pitcher release the ball from what seemed 5 feet away was a little unnerving at first. And there were no batting helmets in the league! Anyway.....
