Rene Roque
Jr. Welterweight Rating 4
France 1964-72 47 wins / 8 losses / 9 draws / 7 KO Birthplace: Lyon, France Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Not a big puncher with only 7 KO's in his career, but showed great ability to stay on his feet being stopped only once in his career. Roque was 18-1-4 including two wins over Leon Zadourian, a draw with Aissa Hashas and and 8 round decision loss to Pedro Carrasco, when he won a 15 round decision in March 1967, defeating Jacques Kancellari for the French Lightweight Title. Over the next two years, Roque defended his Lightweight title twice with a 15 round draw against Maurice Tavant in May 1968 and a 15 round decision over Leornard Tavarez in December 1968. During that time he also gained wins over Maurice Tavant, Percy Hayles, Aissa Hashas, Ernesto Miranda and Olli Maeki. He fought a draw with Johnny Famechon and lost fights to Ken Buchanan, Kid Tano and Frankie Narvaez. In March 1969, Roque made the move up to Light Welterweight, winning the French title at that division with a 7th round KO of Roger Zami. Roque followed that in April 1970 with a 15 round decision over Sandro Lopopolo to win the vacant European (EBU) Light Welterweight Title. That eventually earned Roque a shot at the WBC Light Welterweight Title against Bruno Arcari in July 1970. Roque, though was disqualified in the 6th round. In August 1970, Roque fought a 15 round draw with Borge Krogh in an attempt to regain his European LWW title. Three months later then in November he fought and defeated Roger Zami in 15 rounds to regain the European title that Krogh vacated apparently, though Boxrec does not indicate the title being vacant. He defended the title with a 15 round win over Romano Fanali in December 1970, fought a 15 round draw with Cemal Kemaci in March 1971 for the title then lost the European crown in a 15 round decision to Pedro Carrasco who at 98-1-2 at the time of this fight had won 67 fights with only 1 draw since the time Carrasco had defeated Roque way back in 1965. Roque's last career win was a 10 round decision over Ernesto Mirando in Feb 1972. He then lost to Benny Huertas the next month to finish out his career. |

Alan Richardson
Featherweight Rating 1
England 1971-78 17 wins / 9 losses / 1 draw / 6 KO Hometown: Fitzwilliam, England Rating by: Rocco Del SEsto Richardson was 6-0-0 when he fought Billy Hardacre for the British (Central Area) Featherweight Title in Sept 1972, loosing a 10 round decision to Hardacre. Those two fought a rematch for that title in February 1973 with Hardacre once again taking the 10 round decision. Richardson then fought Hardacre a third time in May 1973 for the Central Area British FW Title, this time winning with a 10 round decision. BoxRec indicates this fight was also an eliminator bout for the British Featherweight Title. Later though in December 1973 BoxRec shows Richardson fighting Barry Harris for what is indicated as the vacant British Central Area Featherweight Title? Richardson wins by 3rd round TKO. After beating Hardacre in May for this title, Richardson apparently vacated it? In July 1974, Richardson was stopped in the 11th round by Evan Armstrong in a bout for the British and Commonwealth Featherweight Titles. In March 1977, Richarson wins the British FW Title stopping Vernon Solias in the 8th round. Richardson then looses by 12th round TKO to Eddie Ndukwu in June 1977 for the Commonwealth FW title. In October that same year he defeats Les Picket by 15 round decision for the British FW title. Richardson and Ndukwu fight again in December 1977 for the Commonwealth title with Ndukwu stopping Richardson again, this time in the 8th round. In April 1978, Dave Needham defeats Richardson in a bid by Richarson to regain the British FW Title, loosing a 15 round decision. Richardson's last career fight comes in October 1978 against Les Pickett in an eliminator bout for the British FW title. Pickett wins the 10 round decision. |

Des Rea
Light Welterweight Rating 1
England 1964-74 28 wins / 36 losses / 5 draws / 7 KO Hometown: Liverpool, England Birthplace: Belfast, Northern Ireland Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Defeated Bob Sempey in September 1965 to win the vacant Northern Ireland Welterweight Title. After running his record to 11-1-1 through early 1966,Rea then lost 4 of his next 5 bouts before fighting a draw and then defeated Mickey Laud twice to set him up for a fight with Vic Andreetti in Feb 1968 for the British Light Welterweight Title. BoxRec indicates this as being the inagural title fight for this crown. Rea took the title with a 15 round decision. Even though he lost a 10 round decision to Paul Armstead in May 1968, Rea got a shot at the European (EBU) Light Welterweight Title in August 1968 against Bruno Arcari. Arcari stopped Rea in the 6th round. In February and October 1969 Rea lost consecutive fights to Vic Andreetti for teh British Light Welterweight Title, the first time a 15 round decision, the second time, Andreetti KO'd Rea in the 4th round. After a loss to Barry Calderwood, Rea managed to defeat a Gus Farrell for the Irish Welterweight Title. It would be Rea's last title fight of any kind. He continued to fight until 1974, but mostly to defeat. After he defeated andreetti in early 1968 in thier first meeting for the British LWW Title, Rea went on to defeat a Lex Hunter to run his career record to 16-5-2. The defeat to Paul Armstead marked the start of a 12-31-3 slide over the remainder of his career. |

Manfred Ackers career of futility
Decided to revive my work through Manfred Ackers' career. For those not familiar with him go back to pages 13 and before of this thread.
We last saw Mr. Ackers loosing by TKO to Raimo Nisula whom I posted a rating. In June and September 1966, Ackers then lost a 6 round decision to Bjarne Lingaas, defeated Roland Graetz in a 4 round decision and then was stopped in the 3rd round by Hans Jorgen Jacobsen. Lingaas, Graetz and Jacobsen we've all seen before rated into the game. Next new opponent up... Hermann Lindner - Germany Light Heavyweight 1961-66 Rating 1 3 wins / 6 losses / 1 draw / 3 KO Birthplace: Wildgrub, Germany Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Lost decisions to Kurt Stroer, Finn Jensen and Harry Kneipp. Fought 6 round draw with Manfred Ackers. In last career fight was stopped in the 3rd round by Klaus Krueger. Ackers fought Lindner in Offenbach, Germany in September 1966, Ackers 3rd fight that month. They fought to a 6 round draw. |

Next, in November 1967 he fights a new guy entering the ring for the first time... Jan Holmqvist - Sweden Heavyweight 1967-68 Rating 2 2 wins / 0 losses / 0 draws / 0 KO Birthplace: Billeberga Manager: Edwin Ahlqvist Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Won a 4 round decision over Manfred Ackers in November 1967 then won a 4 round decision over Giancarlo Bacchini in October 1968. Manfred Ackers career of futility
After loosing the 4 round decision to Holmqvist, Ackers then fights Yvan Prebeg in December 1967. Prebeg wins an 8 round decision over Ackers.
The next month, in January 1968, Ackers fights another new guy on the boxing scene.. Franklin Arrindel - Aruba Light Heavyweight 1967-77 Rating 1 0 wins / 21 losses / 0 draws / 9 KO Birthplace: West Indies Manager: Henk Ruhling Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Stopped 17 times in 21 losses, many of those within the first 3 rounds. Apparent glass jaw fighter at the best. Did have some punch of his own though with 9 KO's in his 10 wins. Franklin lost 10 of his first 11 fights, 8 of the losses were KO or TKO. He lost to Raimo Nisula, Manfred Ackers, Harry Kneipp, Yvan Prebeg, Wilhelm von Homberg, Lion Ven, Jose Manuel Urtain, Paul Roux, Giorgio Bambini, Arno PricK. His only win was against an Einar Lestad. Then in June 1969 he KO'd Ireno Werleman in the 5th round to start a 5-1 streak for him through 1970. It was back down hill after that again though going 4-10 including losses to Rudi Koopmans, Armand Xhonneux and twice to Uwe Meinicke to end his career. |
