In the top of the first, Mejias put the Colt .45s in the lead with an RBI single. Ranew followed with a single that loaded the bases with one out. Aspromonte then stepped up and hit a two run single. A walk to Larker again loaded the bases with one out. Taussig brought in a run with a sacrifice fly. The Colt .45s batted around the order in the inning.

In the top of the third, Larker hit an RBI single. Taussig then beat out the 5-4-3 to allow Aspromonte to score from third.

In the bottom of the third, Clendenon put the Pirates on the board with a sacrifice fly.

After three: Houston 6 Pittsburgh 1.

With a runner on first and two out, Tommie Sisk took the mound for the Pirates.

In the bottom of the sixth, Clemente hit a solo home run.

After six: Houston 6 Pittsburgh 2.

In the top of the seventh, with a runner on first and one out, Jack Lamabe took the mound for the Pirates. With two men out, Taussig hit a two run triple.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Pirates loaded the bases with nobody out. Bailey scored from third when Stuart grounded into the 6-4-3. Clemente followed with an RBI single.

Roy Face took the mound for the Pirates in the top of the eighth. Mejias added to the Colt .45s lead with a sacrifice fly.

The Colt .45s used a 14 hit attack to finally give Bruce his first win of the season.

Final score: Houston 9 Pittsburgh 4.

The Colt .45s signed free agent SP Mike Cuellar to a minor league contract.

Sturdivant had a no-hitter through three.

Aspromonte led off the top of the fifth with a triple for the Colt .45s first hit of the game. Aspromonte scored when Virdon misplayed a Taussig fly ball. Larker would score on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the fifth, Virdon would make up for his error by scoring on a wild pitch.

After a leadoff single in the bottom of the sixth, Bobby Shantz took the mound for the Colt .45s.

After six: Houston 2 Pittsburgh 1.

After a leadoff walk in the top of the eighth, Jack Lamabe took the mound for the Pirates.

Jim Umbricht took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the eighth. With two out, Burgess gave the Pirates the lead with a two run homer.

Roy Face took the mound for the Pirates in the top of the ninth. With a runner on first and two out, Billy Goodman put the Colt .45s back in the lead with a two run homer.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Pirates got the tying run on first with two out thanks to an Umbricht error. Dean Stone took the mound for the Colt .45s and got Skinner to line out to right to end the game.

The Colt .45s won despite getting just two hits in the contest as the Pirates committed three errors.

In the bottom of the fifth, Stuart tied the game with an RBI double. Clemente followed with his own RBI double to give the Pirates the lead. Groat then brought Clemente home with, you guessed it, an RBI double.

Diomedes Olivo took the mound for the Pirates in the top of the sixth.

Dean Stone took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the sixth. Stuart added to the Pirates lead with a two run homer.

After six: Pittsburgh 6 Houston 2.

In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on first and one out, George Brunet took the mound for the Colt. 45s.

With two out in the top of the eighth, Harvey Haddix took the mound for the Pirates.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Pirates loaded the bases with one out. Dave Giusti took the mound for the Colt .45s. Clemente went down on strikes for the second out. Hoak then flew to center to end the inning.

The Pirates got 11 hits in the win.

Final score: Pittsburgh 6 Houston 2.

The Colt .45s return to Houston for an 11 game home stand, beginning with a three game series against the Milwaukee Braves. The Colt .45s are an abysmal 4-22 at home so far in their inaugural season. The Braves have won five straight. The Braves lead the season series 5-2.

Rumor has it that Cincinnati Reds LF Wally Post could be on the trading block.

In the top of the first, Aaron extended his hit streak to 12 games with an RBI double.

Amalfitano led off the bottom of the fourth with a double for the Colt .45s first hit of the game but he was thrown out trying to stretch it outinto a triple.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Colt .45s loaded the bases with two out. Golden flew out to left to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, a single by Mathews scored Jones from second. Adcock followed by drawing a four pitch walk to load the bases with nobody out. Dave Giusti was brought on to pitch for the Colt .45s. A five pitch walk to Torre forced in a run. A single from McMillan brought home two more. Bolling brought in a run with a single. Ten Braves came to bat in the inning.

After six: Milwaukee 6 Houston 0.

In the top of the seventh, Aaron scored when Giusti was called for a balk.

Taussig led off the bottom of the eighth with a home run to prevent the shutout.

George Brunet took the mound for the Colt .45s in the top of the ninth. Adcock added an RBI single to the Braves lead. The Braves loaded the bases with two out after an Aspromonte error on a Torre grounder. Jerry Buchek came up to bat and grounded to third to retire the side.

Lew Burdette took the mound for the Braves in the bottom of the ninth.

The Braves got 10 hits in the win

In the bottom of the eighth, Buddin injured his foot sliding into second with a double and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Jim Pendleton. Pendleton went on to score on a Mejias single. With a runner on first and two out, Ken MacKenzie took the mound for the Mets.

After going 2-8 on their home stand, the Colt .45s begin an 11 game road trip with a three game weekend series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers. The Colt .45s have not allowed a run in their last 18 innings. The Dodgers have won nine straight and are 13-2 in the month of June. The Dodgers lead the season series 10-1.

The Colt .45s placed SS Don Buddin on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 14.

In the bottom of the first, McCovey brought Alou home with a sacrifice fly to put the Giants on the board. Davenport added a two out two run double.

Jim Umbricht took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the ninth. With runners at the corners and one out, Alou flew to center and Hiller tagged up and scored the winning run.
