I have McReynolds backing up my OF. I'm going to roll with this slap hitting squad in Gold this season just to see how it comps to the other levels. I've already been looking at swapping out CF (Kiermaier) or 3B (Tulo) because there's more options without falling off a cliff defensively.

Hi guys, any idea on what that perfect arrangement in the infield of Aparicio, Simmons and Vizquel would be in your opinions?

Year 2032 Results

The stated goal of my all-defense team, the Sullust Sullustans, was to win 9 Great Gloves in one season. In pursuit of that quest, we have won back to back championships. Last week in Silver and this week in Gold.

5 Great Gloves this season:

1B Belt : 6 years in a row. He slashed (.248 / .331 / .379 for a 0.7 WAR)
2B Fox : 2 year in a row. Much better year at the plate (.273 / .304 / .360 for a 2.3 WAR).
SS Aparicio : 8 out of 9. I mean, he won all 9 years but one year another Aparicio won. (.233 / .268 / .289 for a 1.1 WAR)
LF Pillar : 7 years in a row. Horrid year at the plate (.226 / .269 / .313 for .8 WAR)
CF McReynolds : 2 year in a row (2.9 WAR to tie for 2nd with Tony Pena on my team).

As a team, we committed only 47 errors.

We allowed 43 SB, had 19 shutout victories, kept opponents' BA to .223 and had a team ERA of 3.02.

On to Diamond!

Awesome!!! Another 7 is confirmed and the leaderboard is updated. So good. I like that Simmons is at 2nd and Tulo is at 3rd. Which Tulo are you working with? And did the defensive success translate to shutouts and playoff wins?

3 Gold Gloves for me this year. The usuals - Nellie Fox and Luis Aparicio - and a surprise - Yogi Berra. Maddox got beat out at CF by a Billy Hamilton (don't see him as an everyday starter at diamond level very often).

Rookie Sensation Tulo. Lost the sub-league series.

Finally got 7, but a little disappointed to lose to guys that I have on my team. Next week, I'm adding Ken Griffey Jr. to CF, and hopefully my Aparicio can rebound. My team actually had an insane season on the back of my defense, I went 102-60 to beat my Pythag. by 9, and only allowed 502 runs all year! My next step is probably to upgrade my rotation, I'm not sure if a 3.10 ERA is sustainable with Gaylord Perry (89), Larry Dierker, Dennis Martinez, Zack Wheeler, and Kyle Freeland. I'm also not sure if a .741 dEFF is sustainable, but I made a huge improvement this year by changing my park factors all the way down.

I apologize if this has been written in the thread but I didn't feel like reading four pages to find out. Why are they called Great Gloves anyways? The game is officially licensed so it can't be a licensing issue...can it? Or did they just want it to make reference to gold in perfect team?

Wiki says gold glove is sponsored by Rawlings, so, yes, licensing is an issue.

what is bradley's rating in rf? is it better to have tulo and simmons in that configuration rather than simmons at third and tulo at 2nd?

My Sullustans had their first season in Diamond. It was brutal. We went 64-98 and will be relegated back to Gold.

Crappy record is to be expected when your still running out Brandon Belt, Kevin Pillar, Kevin McReynolds, and Luis Aparicio - all batters with a below 60 contact rating. We were 13th in batting average, and 15th in runs scored.

At least we were still first in DEF, committing only 63 errors, and allowing only 18 successful stolen base attempts.

But yeah, disappointing season with only 3 great gloves: Aparicio (9 out of 10 years), Pillar (8 straight), McReynolds (3 straight)

Last week, we won the WS Gold. We'll be returning there with a few upgrades: Maddox in CF and that Dallas Keuchel 86.

Oh yeah, the leaderboard is updated. Congrats to you all getting 7 GG, esp. KleinBiere who did it in Diamond.

Fun little fact kind of related to this thread, my 89 OVR 2017 Corey Seager just won his 14th GG award in a row at 1B (6th at the Perfect level). The only season he's missed so far was the very 1st when he was being trained up at the position.
