Otis Nixon has been my leadoff hitter since day 1
Tom Herr has given me very little reason to remove him from the lineup. He is actually on both my teams. |

Benched Lindor for Omar Vizquel. He´s been beating his Average by about 70 points so far.

I don't know stats for players outside the leagues I'm in. But there are a lot of seasons worth of stats I'm drawing on, so the sample size is large... over 1.2 Million innings pitched... over 4.6 million at bats.

A few more names to throw out there: Paul Molitor, George Kell, and of course super defender Andrelton Simmons.

-Matty Alou (64) - career .313 avg / 15.3 war in 5 seasons with one of my teams
- Johnny Pesky (78) - consistent at the plate and picks up other IF positions super fast to make a great utility guy. Originally only had SS ability on his card. In less than two seasons he picked up 46 skill at 1B and 93 skill at 2B. (edit 1/15/19: in case anyone comes back through reading the thread; Pesky has now won 2 consecutive great glove awards at 2B for me) - Luis M Castillo (57) - can't say if he'd perform at higher levels, but if you're just starting out, this guy is a rock and he's an iron level card. Originally tagged as a starter, convert him to a relief pitcher and use him as your long/middle relief in the pen. He picks up some killer stuff going from SP to RP. Ahh I see. So you are exporting all the data at the end of each week and combining them? Or am I missing some easier way....that sounds like a lot of work

Yes, I'm exporting them bi-weekly. Takes about 30 minutes to update the source worksheets. I don't have to re-create the sheets that do all the combining and calculating. I'm then able to sort or select in any way I want to slice and dice it up... By position, by league level, by overall rating, etc.

Maybe someone who read this thread. Mine is still starting, though my team went from 7-0 before he joined to 0-4 since...

Note: The numbers below are from my team only.
73-Jose Oquendo WAR: BrL: 4.5 SiL: 3.1 GoL: 4.0 DiL: 2.4 GoL: 3.0 (projected) 78-Len Barker: 94 Stu, 64 Mov, 60 Con Barker's stats have been great from SiL to DiL 72-Dennis Martinez A great bronze and silver league level starter. Above that, he's been both great and awful for me. rWAR: BrL: 7.2 SiL: 4.4 GoL: -0.3 DiL: -0.4 GoL: 6.2 (projected) 64-Luis Aparicio: 4 straight glove awards and probably a 5th this season. BrL: 3.9 SiL: 4.7 GoL: 2.5 DiL: 4.2 GoL: 2.3 (projected) And 79-Robert Osuna has always been very solid as well.

Great topic.
Most of the players were on my Silver-only team that is trying to compete in P330. Unfortunately, it gets harder and harder to keep up with Silver and below pitchers to compete against the Diamond/Perfect superstars. Here are a few more names that brought me to P330: 1B Cecil Cooper/Bill Terry in a platoon with some DH duties (5-6 WAR combined). 2B Jim Gilliam SS Ozzie Smith (both the 75 and expensive 78 card). CF Richie Ashburn Good luck to all the Silver-and below teams out there !!! |

Jim Abbott (70) is an underrated card. I picked him up for my bronze team, he did nearly as well as Dierker. I had Paxton on my diamond level team, 5.00 ERA+. I thought Abbott could do that just as well, and a lot cheaper, too. He did as well as Paxton had, for the rest of that year-- but this year he has the lowest ERA at 3.06-- beating my Pedro Martinez, even.

I have one team, but you guys are forcing me to go get some of these cards! Might have to start a second team with the guys mentioned in this thread only.

BrL: 5.5 (.301/.372 - 40SB) SiL: 6.1 (.302/.386 - 60SB) SiL: 3.2 (.294/.363 - 43SB) Only downside he has 54 Defense rating at 2B which has resulted in a career -4.5ZR over 3 seasons. |
