Well this was a darn impressive season..

Especially considering the era. This wasn't the late 1800's or early 1900's..

Look at his 1996 season. .407 AVG, 1.158 OPS, 37 homers, 126 RBI's..

Have to think that's up there with some of the greatest seasons I've ever seen in OOTP. I would have liked to have seen him play 20-30 more games though. His follow up season was still great but pales in comparison. There was no chance on improving on or even hitting those numbers again.

How did he only get a 6.6 WAR? 30 defender out there?

Here are his fielding stats. Only 3 errors in left field during the 1996 season.

Yeah that does seem low. I wish I could show a different screenshot but here is one of my two 400 hitters. A 9 time MVP . His WAR numbers seem more representative.

Yeah if you look at his fielding numbers comparing them to his WAR on a season-by-season basis and you can see how his fielding really dropped his WAR

He was an really good RF until about '91, I'm assuming he was switched to LF due to diminishing RF skills or positional need, but he was really terrible in '92 in the field, it looks like he was probably never more than an average LF in in his best years, but his fielding dropped quickly and affected his WAR

'91 and '93 are the best examples showing how much of a drop it was

the offensive numbers are quite similar, but there is a 1.7 drop in WAR

there is also a drop of 8 in ZR. so his fielding numbers show that he was actually considered by the game to be less valuable during his better offensive seasons just because he became a defensive liability

This is the only player to hit .400 in my game he also had a amazing season on defense +20 ZR

So having a bad defense season really will destroy WAR

This is my current C. Well he's a DH now. 3 time MVP so far.

Games played and Coors Field, I would guess. Larry Walker only had 5.1 the year he hit .379 there (similar # of GP). And he had a glove.
