If, however, you want to also be able to use a bunch of Negro-leaguers, Japanese pros, career minor-leaguers, and others, then a Spritze db is the way to go.

If you're not sure, perhaps this will give you some info that may help: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...t-summary.html

Good luck!
I knew I had a better page on the wiki. updated the earlier post

Okay guys,

This was very helpful. Now What is the issue between the .obd and the Master .csv? Can we read the obd file with something? was there some issue with game versions? I think that was where I started to go off the rails.

Thanks,
JP

Think of the odb as a zip file containing all the csv files. The game is programmed to read the odb file over csv if it exists no batter which file the game is pointed at.

Odb compression allows the gane to quickly read and use the large amounts of data, especially when importing league history.

So is it possible in a fantasy/historical league, to get players to import yearly to some of the teams they really started with or with the game's .odb or something similar with the Spritze .obd? If so, how do the teams need to be set up?

Thanks,

JP

The question here is not easily discerned. Please restate in clearer terms?

I am sorry if I am a bit fuzzy. My head spins on these subjects.

What I want to do is have some of the vintage teams active in a fictional league and get real players to import who were on those teams to those teams. The Brooklyn Eckfords or such. I will fill in the teams with fictional sub par players. Is this any clearer?

Thanks.

JP

You must start with a historical league not fictional for this to work and then only post 1900.

Will the HS DB work for RD in 15? When might you release an updated DB for 15?

There are no OOTP changes for 15 in regards to db's.

I have a new db that will be available about the time "Godzilla" comes to a theater near you.

Spritze I had import historical rookies checked in my league settings, and feeder leagues plus additional players for my amateur draft

I got Ricardo Rincon to import...that's it for 1996

How can I see which year the database imports them in your DB file?

I've used Gambo/Spritze dbs in the past, but for the last few years I just can't seem to get them to work right.

This is what I've been doing:

1) Create historical game in 1871.
2) Once game is created, point game to your database.
3) Unfortunately, it still has the 115 "real" players, and not the 281 "1871ers" specified in your db.
4) "A-ha!" says I. "I'll just delete these guys and set the amateur draft for March 1, before the season starts!"
5) I do so and there's...37 players, who all debuted in 1872, not 1871.
6) What gives? How do I point the game to the Gambo/Spritze db (and not the one that comes with the game) so that the 1871ers load properly?
7) Help!

Replace the CSV's and ODB's before you create the league.
Choose neiutered stats from the advanced tab during league creation.

That is all you need to do.

Replace the CSV's and ODB's before you create the league.

"Replace", how? You mean go into the actual file via Windows Explorer? Which one?

They are located in the Stats folder. Use Copy and Replace to overwrite what needs to be overwritten. Make a copy of the original folder just in case.

I took the files from your db: Pitching2, batting2, Fielding2, FieldingOF2, Master and historical_database.odb and overwrote them into the stats folder (while saving the originals elsewhere). Fire up the game, and...I'm still getting the original 115 players. Hm.

I downloaded "Gambo/Spritze DB for OOTP 14 (Corrected)" from ootpmods.com, and those six files are the only ones in it: Pitching2, batting2, Fielding2, FieldingOF2, Master and historical_database.odb.

So, I'm confused.

The Gambo database is not mine. He uses a small subset of my data in his db. I do not know what else he does with it. PM him and maybe he can tell you.

The files that are in the zip file are the only ones that need to be overwritten in the stats directory. Make a copy if the stats directory as a backup. Then copy the ones from the download into the original directory overwriting the existing files.

A little background. The batting2,pitching2 etc files contain the neutralized stats. The master determines who and when they import. So because my database still uses the real statistics so visually in game the correct historical stats are imported and seen those files do not need to be updated. The neutralized files are used to create the player ratings (and import team) and the master is spritzes master with the players I want trimmed out gone and debut year fixed to when they made their pro debut.
