I agree with this. If your goal is to produce the best team and you are funds limited, I think you are always better off selling the expensive card and getting multiple players that can help your team. Although it is fun playing with the cards you don't see in every lineup.

So I pulled the 86 Keuchel last night - woohoo! I put his numbers into my pitching spreadsheet and it shows that he is my best starter, better then my 97 Randy Johnson. Is this correct? I know this card is good, but that caught me off guard.

He's super dependent on defense. For whatever reason my defense has been terrible this season, and his ERA went from 2.47 last year to 4.81 this year. His FIP is still pretty good!
No idea what happened. Could be the different competition, could be just a bad year from all my typically gold glove caliber defenders.... any Keuchel is feeling it. |

He is hit and miss probably because he strikes out so few of them. If you can afford it, he makes a great long relief pitcher.
Personally, I prefer the guys that have great movement but also the ability to get a few Ks (Harvey, Chandler, Brown).

I would too, but I can never seem to afford those guys! My rotation is heavily geared toward movement, but doesn't include any premium arms like those. Keuchel (69-96-66), Blanton (68-84-76), Clemens (87-77-73), Hubbell (70-75-83), Cisco (64-80-66). Still does well in Perfect as long as my defense is clicking. |

That 86 Keuchel is selling for over 30000.
Has he been pitching that well?

Yes, I was lucky also. Getting him around 5k I think. He has been my ace in the bull pen this season putting out fire after fire. A lot of owners I face start him and he is tough to beat.

He's been fairly consistent for me. Last season I was in a brutal conference, so he had a down year. I played him out of the pen for a few weeks this season, but he's been really good since I put him back in the rotation. He's one of those guys that is 0 to 2 runs most of the time, then get rocked for 4 to 6 every once in awhile. EDIT: 0 HR in his last 18 starts. That's pretty nice.

How does Barker make it so high on the list?

Around 60th in STU and 100th in MOV. Neither is amazing, but combined they make him better than every Silver, many Golds, and a few low Diamonds. The card's Overall is just way too low. Back in Beta, Dierker and Barker had the same rating and dominated. For some reason they changed Dierker's to a Gold and kept Barker a low Silver.

Yeah, I pulled Dierker in one of my first packs, so I was one of those that discovered his dominance early. I believe I won a few Cy Youngs with him and I think even an MVP or two. Last edited by DonkeyKongSr; 02-10-2019 at 11:52 AM. |

I actually sold off players on one of my perfect teams to get Keuchel.
I am not sure if he is a better starter or reliever?
