How to tell where a home run was hit in the game log
My 2017 Chicago Cubs just walked off the Cardinals in Game 1 of the NLDS (2-out home run in the bottom of the 18th, after coming back to tie the game twice!). Looking in the game log, it says it was hit to 9D. Can anyone tell me where that is? Left, center, right, right-center, etc.? And is there some reference to check that? I just want to picture the moment. Thanks!

The number is which field (7=left, 8=center, 9=right). 78 is left center, 89 is right center.

The D stands for deep.
Go to team home page. Click on the "options & ballpark" tab near the top. Then on the bottom click edit ballpark (you may need to be commissioner mode). Then click on the ball locations tab. |

Thanks! That makes perfect sense.
So my 33 year-old Japanese star lefty outfielder pulled the first pitch of the at-bat deep into the right-field stands at Wrigley. Beautiful. |
