Okay -- So I've run an expansion team via a pre-season expansion draft.

What I'd like to do is to have the expansion team get to take part in the FYPD, international signings, etc. the year before it's big league club starts. IIRC, that's how it has been done in the past for MLB expansion.

It would also allow the expansion clubs to pursue regular free agency prior to their first year and not just the dregs that are left in late March.

So smart guys.....how do I do this?

I appreciate any help.

Run your exspansion in November or December. if it is a new MLB 2014 type league your SOL.

Adjust the dates of your amateur draft and international free agents to happen in the off-season. I like to use Jan 1 for internationals and March 1 for the draft.

Expand your league right at the start of the off season and you'll be able to set up your team using full free agency, the Rule 5, international amateurs and a draft.
