He probably already was headed to the HOF. But it has got to be cemented now.

I was away with the family and missed this one. 26 in a row set down to finish the game, apparently? Wow.

Wow!

Edit: I was wondering recently how many Walks a pitcher can have in a no-hitter before it becomes kinda meaningless. Obviously Verlander's doesn't apply But how many? 4? 5? More?

Should be like that, yeah. He walked Cavan Biggio in the first, and then was like "get the **** off o' me" for the rest of the game.

I am a bit surprised his firing didn't stimulate any reaction from the community. Curious what Red Sox fans feel on this? I thought he did exactly what he said he would do in Detroit. The dumpster fire we put on the field right now is the price you pay for that type of business model. With the teams he put together I still can't understand how the Tigers didn't at least get one title to hang their hats on.

I wish I had a screenshot of an image on my TV just now while watching the Yankees - Red Sox game in Fenway. They showed the Sox bullpen with all of their relievers, 17 in total, seated on the bench in a perfect row, watching the game. It was hilarious.

I searched for some images on the internet and came up with these, from The Athletic. They've been dumping on the Sox for this nonsense which will no longer be possible with the roster changes coming in 2020. I'm not a subscriber - I can read only the headline and first few paragraphs, but if you are subscribed, the links are below.

Absurd 17-man Red Sox bullpen is the final straw for a pitching strategy that must change next year

The 28-man roster is still stupid and too small. Somewhere between 30 and 32 might have been the sweet spot, which still gives you additional options, and a way to try up-and-coming players in the spotlight. With 28, everybody adds two relievers that have already made the round trip to AAA four times this year - done.

I still think teams should just run a 20-man active roster for each game, and can carry basically as many guys as they want the rest of the way on a taxi squad. Gives a natural limit during the game of how many relievers you can use, and makes sure any time of year teams are playing under the same rules.

I never understood why in Baseball you have to bring your rookies up to the majors to see if they're ready or not? Isn't that what AAA is for?

Baseball has more levels of minors than any sport, yet they still can't figure out if a player is ready for the big leagues without bringing him up.

There should be no expanded roster, period.
