1929 Hall of Fame

Name: JustinZygmuntHOF.PNG

Justin Zygmunt, RHP

Zygmunt retires as the third best pitcher in MLB history, just behind J.P. Avila and Devon McFadden. He won one MVP award, 6 Pitcher of the Year Awards, was Rookie of the Year, and went to 9 all-star games. He stayed incredibly durable throughout his career until shoulder inflammation put him out in 1927. He last pitched in the majors in 1925. He was originally drafted with the 204th overall pick in 1908 out of high school.

Career Stats: 3674 IP, 652 BB, 1670 K, 2.60 FIP, 82 FIP-, 82.9 WAR, 70 JAWS

Name: MortonZeppHOF.PNG

Morton Zepp, C

Zepp was drafted with the 31st overall pick in 1912 out of the University of Florida. He won Rookie of the Year in 1915, was a 7-time all-star, 5-time silver slugger, and the Division Series MVP in both the AL and NL in separate playoff runs. He retires as the best catcher in Major League history, just ahead of the legendary Dan McKee.

Career Stats: 6518 PA, 1787 H, .327 wOBA, 103 WRC+, 19.1 ZR, 38.7 WAR, 33.8 JAWS

Danny Brozoski, RHP

Brozoski just misses out on the HOF as his career got off to a late start. He was drafted in the 11th round by the Brewers but was traded from the Brewers to the Cubs, from the Cubs to the Mets, and from the Mets to the Reds before finally sticking and putting up 4-5 WAR seasons, In 1925 his career year was good enough for a Pitcher of the Year award and he went to three all-star games. He was also a 2-time champ.

Career Stats: 3654 IP, 927 BB, 1413 K, 3.22 FIP, 94 FIP-, 59.6 WAR, 50.5 JAWS

Achievements, April/May 1930

A little bit of a snag while running some simulations based on the new aging parameters - I used the wrong copy of the league so I lost some shortlists and missed a few months worth of news stories. Other than that everything else is good.

Marlon Pepper is a free agent this year - he was dominant in high school and drafted 4th overall in 1920. In the major leagues, he has been an above average pitcher.

Former MVP Nick Valdez is also available this year.

Tomas Reed, SS

Reed retires as the best position player ever in MLB history, completing his career at age 44. He won 5 MVP awards, Rookie of the year, 7 silver sluggers, and went to 8 all-star games. He was the AL Division Series and Championship MVP but never won a World Series. He was drafted 1st overall out of Oregon State in 1908 and immediately dominated the league, averaging over 8 WAR in five out of his first six seasons. Once he turned 28, his defense fell off a cliff but instead of sticking at shortstop he transitioned into a slugging first baseman. He holds the records for games, at-bats, runs, hits, total bases, singles, RBIs, and career WAR.

Career Stats: 11914 PA, 3100 H, 111 HR, 515 SB, .367 wOBA, 129 wRC+, -28.4 ZR, 76.3 WAR, 64 JAWS

Name: AJAranhaHOF.PNG

A.J. Aranha, LHP

Aranha never won a Pitcher of the Year award but he did attend 5 all-star games, win a gold glove, and a World Series, taking hom the NL Series MVP the same year. He was drafted 17th overall in 1915 out of Vanderbilt.

Career Stats: 2694.3 IP, 477 BB, 1308 K, 3.06 FIP, 82 FIP-, 60 WAR, 61.8 JAWS

Name: VladimiroTrejoHOF.PNG
Views: 147
Size: 273.3 KB
Vladimiro Trejo, RF

Trejo was a scouting discovery out of the Dominican Republic in 1908 and debuted in 1912 with the Marlins. He won an MVP in 1914, went to four all-star games, won a gold glove and was a 7-time silver slugger.

Career Stats: 6721 PA, 1796 H, 679 SB, .374 wOBA, 139 wRC+, 30.9 ZR, 49.8 WAR, 43.6 JAWS

Name: DJLevertonHOF.PNG
Views: 172
Size: 277.3 KB
D.J. Leverton, CF

Leverton was a premier power hitter while playing a good CF. He won three gold gloves, one silver slugger, and went to four all-star games. Originally drafted 1st overall out of Weatherford, TX, Leverton was an elite prospect who debuted at age 21 and played his entire career with the Blue Jays.

Career Stats: 8467 PA, 2103 H, 109 HR, 582 SB, .331 wOBA, 105 wRC+, 149.1 ZR, 44.6 WAR, 41.7 JAWS

Owen Clodfelter, 1B

Clodfelter retires as the home run king at 143. However, he wasn't capable of much else. Even with all the pop, his offense was just barely above average and his defense was atrocious at 1B. Oddly enough, he played one game at CF in 1924.

Career Stats: 11058 PA, 2776 H, 143 HR, .342 wOBA, 109 wRC+, -170.7 ZR, 13.3 WAR, 13.4 JAWS

Nick Valdez joined the Blue Jays, also for 7 years. He, along with Joziro van der Walt make quite the outfield.
