July 26-28

July 26:
Cardinals 6 @ Braves 5
WP: Shelby Miller (9-7, 2.84)
LP: Tim Hudson (10-8, 3.47)
SV: Trevor Rosenthal (15, 2.70)
HR: STL: Oscar Taveras (6), Matt Adams (6), Matt Holliday (8)

Miller starter out very shaky, allowing two runs and loading the bases in the first, but he calmed down to keep us in the game. Our offense backed him up, as we had timely hits throughout the game.

July 27:
Cardinals 4 @ Braves 5
WP: Cristhian Martinez (3-0, 1.35)
LP: Lance Lynn (7-9, 3.72)
SV: Craig Kimbrel (20, 1.85)
HR: STL: Matt Holliday (9)

4 unearned runs in the first inning really hurt us as our winnings streak comes to an end.

July 28:
Cardinals 7 @ Braves 13
WP: Roy Oswalt (5-6, 3.51)
LP: Mark Melancon (4-3, 2.70)
HR: STL: Matt Holliday (10) ATL: Robinson Cano (13)

After scoring 5 in the first, everything went wrong. Jake Westbrook left after one inning due to injury, and our bullpen got hammered for 11 runs. Westbrook's injury is an elbow strain, which will keep him out for two months.

July 29-31

July 29:
Cardinals 3 @ Pirates 4
WP: Gerrit Cole (5-6, 3.45)
LP: Jaime Garcia (7-12, 4.57)
SV: Boone Logan (7, 2.17)
HR: STL: Matt Holliday (11) PIT: Starling Marte (8), Russell Martin (8)

Down by one in the eigth, we missed out on a huge opportunity to take the lead, as we did not score with the bases loaded and no outs.

Cardinals 5 @ Pirates 4
WP: Adam Wainwright (14-6, 2.38)
LP: Jeff Locke (7-10, 3.22)
SV: Fernando Salas (2, 4.40)
HR: STL: David Freese (12) PIT: Garret Jones (9), Andrew McCutchen (15)

A big home run by David Freese gave us the lead in the 8th, and although our bullpen nearly cost us the game in the ninth, we were able to hold on.

July 31:
Cardinals 6 @ Pirates 4
WP: Trevor Rosenthal (5-3, 2.70)
LP: Tony Watson (3-5, 4.91)
HR: STL: Allen Craig 2 (18), Yadier Molina (9)

Trevor Rosenthal blew the save in the 12th, but he got his 5th win of the season after Daniel Descalso gave us the lead with an RBI triple.

August 1:
Cardinals 1 @ Pirates 5
WP: Jameson Tallion (2-1, 2.11)
LP: Joe Kelly (1-3, 6.27)
HR: STL: Matt Holliday (12) PIT: Pedro Alvarez (18)

Joe Kelly struggled in his first start, and our offense only totaled 4 hits in this series finale.

LP: Lance Lynn (7-10, 3.66)
HR: STL: Carlos Beltran (10)

We left the bases loaded in the eighth without scoring, which proved to be the greatest missed opportunity of the game.

August 3:
Cardinals 0 @ Reds 4
WP: Johnny Cueto (10-6, 2.74)
LP: Jaime Garcia (7-13, 4.68)
SV: Aroldis Chapman (25, 3.66)

Our pitching wasn't terrible but you can't win with only three hits.

August 4:
Cardinals 9 @ Reds 4
WP: Adam Wainwright (15-6, 2.51)
LP Mat Latos (10-7, 3.11)
HR: STL: Matt Carpenter (12) CIN: Jay Bruce (19), Shin-Soo Choo (10)

We didn't get a great outing from Wainwright, but our offense finally showed up as we scored 9 runs on 14 hits.

August 5:
Dodgers 7 @ Cardinals 2
WP: Chad Billingsley (10-7, 3.28)
LP: Shelby Miller (9-8, 3.18)
HR: LAD: Matt Kemp (19), Hanley Ramirez (10)

Shelby Miller got hit hard, allowing 6 runs in 3.2 innings. We had 11 hits in the game, but could only turn it into 2 runs.

August 6:
Dodgers 4 @ Cardinals 3 (14)
WP: Brandon League (6-0, 2.38)
LP: Trevor Rosenthal (5-4, 2.61)
SV: J.P. Howell (1, 2.39)
HR: LAD: Matt Kemp (20) STL: Ryan Jackson (1), Carlos Beltran (11)

Ryan Jackson tied the game in the 8th with a home run, but we would not score again, as LA finally won in the 14th.

August 7:
Dodgers 1 @ Cardinals 5
WP: Lance Lynn (8-10, 3.52)
LP: Zack Greinke (13-7, 2.75)

Lance Lynn dominated the powerful Dodger lineup, striking out 10 in 8 innings, and only allowing 1 run on 4 hits.

Dodgers 5 @ Cardinals 8
WP: Fernando Salas (1-2, 3.86)
LP: Brandon League (6-1, 3.96)
HR: LAD: Hanley Ramirez (11) STL: David Freese (13)

Down 4-3, we came up big in the bottom of the 8th, scoring 5 runs. David Freese had the big hit to give us the lead, a two-run double. Freese, who has been swinging a hot bat lately, also homered in the 6th.

Braves LHP Eric O'Flaherty signs a 3 year extention worth $6 million/year.
Detroit pitcher Justin Verlander improves to 12-5 with a 5-hit shutout over the Indians.

LP: Kyle Hendricks (1-3, 5.90)
SV: Mark Melancon (4, 2.70)

Adam Wainwright won his league-leading 16th game, as our offense pounded three home runs in the 3-run victory.

WP: Edwin Jackson (8-7, 3.87)
LP: Shelby Miller (9-9, 3.08)

Cubs 3 @ Cardinals 0
WP: Eric Jokisch (1-1, 2.04)
LP: Joe Kelly (1-4, 5.75)

We once again held the Cubs to few runs, but our offense was asleep again as we get shut out for the second straight game.

WP: Gerrit Cole (7-6, 3.14)

Unfortunately for the St. Louis Cardinals, it is impossible to win a baseball game without scoring.

August 14:

WP: Jameson Tallion (4-1, 1.21)
LP: Jaime Garcia (7-14, 4.42)
SV: Boone Logan (9, 2.58)

LP: Jeff Karstens (1-10, 6.18)

LP: Mark Melancon (4-4, 2.89)
HR: CHC: Anthony Rizzo 2 (27)

Our offense didn't score any runs until the sixth, but once we finally got things going, we were able to eventually tie the lead in the ninth. Unfortunately, star 1B Anthony Rizzo hit a walk-off homer in the 10th.

August 17:
Cardinals 9 @ Cubs 3
WP: Joe Kelly (2-4, 5.45)
LP: Eric Jokisch (1-2, 3.66)
