BZ 1910: Trade player crash

Hello,

I am the same guy who started this thread:

The performance results from doing those tweaks was great, but the runtime error unfortunately was never resolved. So I decided to start over fresh and clean. Since I installed 9.1.6 over the prior one I decided to uninstall the game, got rid of all the leftovers and start over brand new. I implemented all the tweaks from before and everything was great....but now I am in like season 4 or 5 and the game won't let me make trades. Everytime I attempt to make a trade the game crashes.

I get an "ootp9.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" message everytime I try to complete a trade or force a trade. I simmed ahead some to see if the problem would go away, but it didn't. This problem just popped up out of the blue.

If my game happens to be corrupt and I have to start over again, could I please have a link to DL version 9.1.2?

Just to verify, can you make trades okay in other saved games now?

I can't seem to find a download for 9.1.2, but I wouldn't imagine that you'd have better luck with it than 9.1.6.

Just to verify, can you make trades okay in other saved games now?

Yes. I have been busy, so I really haven't gotten around to creating a new universe until now.

I also just noticed that my shortcut via the Start menu frequently used list is now labelled Unlicense OOTP 9, where as none of the others are(desktop, program list, program folder, etc). The target in properties reads: "C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\ootp9.exe" -unlicense

Could that some how cause a conflict? The error shows up regardless of the shortcut I use.

I am sorry to be a pest. I have been a loyal fan of this franchise since 2001 or 2002(when Season Ticket sold in stores). These last two issues out of all these years has been thee only issues that have kept me from carrying on my universe. I never really restarted or created new universes when the game got less challenging. I would just move on to a weaker team(normally the weakest) and build them up....and so on and so forth.

I can't seem to find a download for 9.1.2, but I wouldn't imagine that you'd have better luck with it than 9.1.6.

You may be right, I was not as far along when I updated to the newest patch....so the issues could just be purely coincidental. Each issue just came out of left field down the road, not after updating.

Trade Player Crash

I looked at other posts about OOTP crashing when you are trying to complete a trade, but none of them had solutions that worked for me. I tried making a new league and i was able to complete a trade there. Did my league become corrupted?

Crashes During Trade

Fully updated OOTP 9 on Mac OSX:

1. What, specifically, were you doing when the problem occurred? Include the specific screen you were on when the problem occurred.

Shopped a player around for a trade, but the program crashes when I hit "Complete Trade." Restarted several times, but it seems that I can no longer make trades.


2. What happened? Was there an error message? If so, what was the specific message?

No error message, program just closes

3. Were you able to repeat the error with this same game? With another game? If so, what steps did you take?

I simmed ahead a little bit, but still cannot complete trades.



5. What is your league configuration (fictional/historical, etc.)

Historical league, with full minor leagues and international leagues. Crashes began on July 24 of a new game.


6. Are you a Mac or PC user?

Update: it seems that I can trade major league players ok--the crash occurs when the trade includes minor-league players (or, at least, players off the 40-man roster.)

Now that's interesting. Would either team involved in the trade end up with more than 40 players on its 40-man roster if those already on the roster pre-trade were forced to stay on the 40-man roster post-trade?

And when you say fully updated, you mean 9.1.6?

Not sure. Are you using 9.1.6? Can you figure out any trades that won't cause a crash? A poster in another thread mentioned that trades involving players who weren't on the 40-man roster wouldn't crash the game.

The unlicensing shortcut may unlicense your game, but if you can get into your game properly, it shouldn't affect any crashes.

Some others have mentioned this issue and one guy stated that trades could go through if none of the players were on the 40-man roster. Can you play around with various types of trades to see if any will go through without crashing? Can you try various settings changes to see if any will get you around the crash? There's clearly some specific trigger that we can hopefully narrow down.

I am using 9.1.6.
I did some testing and it seems that if all the players are on the ML roster, than the trade doesn't crash OOTP. If i try to included any minor league players, even if they are on the 40-man roster, than OOTP crashes. I tried increasing the ML roster size to 50 and disabling the 40-man roster, and the crashes sitll occurred. I also tried erasing the service time, stats, and league history to see if there was a memory or disk issue. The crashes still occured.

Hi,

Yes, 9.1.6.

Hmm. The 40-man roster question is interesting, and I'm not certain. I'm having the problem again today, so I can check...but the crash seems to occur with trades involving multiple players, at least some of whom are in minor leagues. The trading deadline may be a factor--for the past two seasons I've simmed the crashes have occured in late July...

OK, I'm wondering if the 40-man limit was the issue. I cleared some room from the 40-man roster on my team and the trade went through without crashing. (I was trading 2 non-40 man players for 3 40-man players on the other team, so my team--I guess--would have been over the limit?) I also changed the setting so my AI manager handled roster promotions, which may also have helped. I'll keep an eye on it...

I just merged three threads together since we all seem to be referring to the same problem. I'd really like everyone to put their heads together to identify the exact conditions that cause this issue. If we can do that, we have a much better shot at getting the bug fixed.

Do you have your AI manager handling roster moves, or are you doing them yourself? I don't seem to have this problem so long as the AI manager is enabled...

I need the league files (just the .dat files) and the exact trade (players & teams) you where trying to make prior to the crash in oder to reproduce this...

No, unfortunately that does not help. I need the .dat files of the league, zipped and emailed to markus@ootpdevelopments.com ... and I need to know exactly what trade was tried.
