Another well pitched game. This time from Pettitte. Hopefully, this is a sign the Yankees rotation is settling in. The bullpen can really use the rest.

Yes, I feel better about what I am seeing now on the pitching staff. The vets are coming around, the refuse is being carted out, and, as robster pointed out, we're starting to have too many talented kids hanging around. Joe and Cash like problems like that, and they got to be thinking that they've had their quota of injuries for this year already. |

Last nights game was an all around great effort. Pettite was good, Bats were on point (Am I the only one that actually likes Abreu hitting that low? Giambi is an on base machine, and they have to pitch to him with Arod in the 4 hole.) and the bullpen sealed the deal. I hope we can see that more often. Other than that 11-15 debacle in Seattle, the Yankees seem to have quickly righted the ship.

Definitely something to continue to build from! Anyone who counted the Yankees out because of a poor April was sadly mistaken. This team is too good to roll over and die, and we will make some noise before all is said and done.
I can't believe what I'm about to say, but imagine how bad April would have been without A-Rod and his red hot start? LOL Lets hope we can say the same thing come October!

I know the feeling. I wish the Red Sox could keep playing the yankees!

QUESTION:
Will Hughes go back to Scranton for a start or two or go straight to NY?

Well, you knew sooner or later Texas would win one. Guess we should be happy they scored all their runs in one game...

Still up in the air, he may get more then 1 or 2 rehab starts. Depends on the pitching situation when he's ready to be activated.

Geez, for a second I thought I could have posted in the Astros thread by mistake.
I don't see anything wrong with a little good natured ribbing between Red Sox and "Y"ankee fans. 1998Yankees: Thanks for setting the record straight. I for one feel honored to be conisdered a voice of reason in a Red Sox nation where there seems to be so little of it...hehe

Back on Topic:
Do you guys think the yanks will make any trades anytime soon? I know they had their eye on Clemens for a while. But I was wondering if they migh trade away some of their younger players (i.e. Cano, or Cabrera) for more pitching help

I think they are high on Cabrera and would like to let Abreu go after this season to give him a shot. I don't see them making any deals anytime soon. Wang, Pettitte, Mussina and Clemens make up a decent, but old rotation. Hughes was starting to show his stuff, so that's one spot taken care of. Bruney and DeSilva? threw well over the weekend against the Mariners and had to have opened some eyes too. They might trade for a reliever, but I wouldn't even expect that unless something too good to be true was thrown into their laps.

I seriously doubt we'll see Cano or Cabrera traded either. Hughes is untouchable, but I would not be shocked to see one of these young SP's get traded as well. Right now their value is high, so you never know. Personally I would like to see these kids get a shot right here.
Have I mentioned I don't like Mussina either???

Melky doesn't have the power to be a good corner outfielder. I think that would be a smart move to trade him now while his value is at its highest. |
