Contracts / Negotiations
Being new, I have a couple questions about resigning players:
1. If I try to extend a contract for a player, will the new contract take effect immediately (ie.. add the difference to this year cap)? 2. When is the best time to attempt to extend your players contracts (including those in the last year of a contract)? 3. Is there a guide to this portion of the game (link to a forum post)? Any help is appreciated. |

The extension won't take effect until July 1 of the next season, it won't affect the current year's cap. It's generally best to begin negotiations early in the final season, since, if the player doesn't like your offers and breaks off negotiations, there's more time remaining for him to reconsider and allow them to restart. (Although by doing it early you're also taking the risk that he gets injured or his play declines during the season and you're left with an expensive contract for a guy who no longer deserves it.)
