More losses when sim games

Hi,

I'm new to OOTP and baseball in general, so bear with me.

Playing as the Red Sox and have had a really good start, playing most games and 11-6 I think. I tend to only sim v poorer teams if I've won the first game comfortably but would like to sim a bit more though to speed things up. However I seem to do much poorer simming. I don't tend to concede many runs and also dont sub pitchers much, I'll let the starter pitch a whole game often if he's pitching well and isn't tired. I will hook the starter quickly if he's poor though but doesn't happen often. I will only use one reliever though again if he's playing well and isnt tired. However when I sim I find that lots of relievers are getting used and I'm conceding far more runs. Im not doing anything fancy when I play games, I tend to just press auto pitch and see what happens, dont even move field settings and have tried to replicate that in my strategy set up.

I know there's the hook starters setting, but is there a setting for how much you replace relievers?

Also any thoughts on why I lose more when simming? When playing I dont even use pinch runners or anything so I'd think the AI was better than my limited experience management!

players are tired so your backups are in and they arent as good. you mightnt have changed your strategy which means your team might not play the way you do or want them to. those are two that come to mind.

You can use the Depth Charts and Team Strategies to give the CPU a few instructions while simming. But keep in mind that we talk about a pretty small sample size with about 20 games. Teams will go into a losing streak (ask the 2011 Redsox or Yankees) and maybe for you they did it when you simmed. And playing out will always be better, as the AI can handle things. You just have a better "feeling" when a pitcher should be taken out the game.

A lot of people (me included) play important games out and sim the rest. Just play around a bit and find the style you like.
