Minor Leaguer import/progression

Hello, I had a question regarding importing a player into an historic league and how he would progress. Here's what I am trying to do:

1) Historical replay starting in 1977 as the Red Sox and progressing forward.. this includes real lineups and transactions

2) I have recreated the AAA minor leagues as they were in 1977

3) I want to import players who played in AAA that year an did not reach the majors until a future year.

So if for instance I take Glenn Hoffman and import him using his historical database ID onto the Red Sox AAA team, will he going forward stay in AAA until 1980 when he would then join the Red Sox as he did in real life? So in 1978 he would stay in AAA, same with 1979? And in the almanac, would his minor league stats from 1977-1979 appear as each year progresses and then include his major league stats as he reached the bigs? I guess the roundabout question is will the game/almanac recognize his as the same player in 1977 as it will in 1980 until he retires.

Hope this makes sense!
