Noob Q: Promoting from Farm

I just bought FHM5 this week and started a new game, ended up taking a job in the Danish league. My starting goalie is out for 1-2 weeks injured. I want to promote a player from my farm team, but I can't seem to make it work. I can apparently only send players down, but not call them up. I've checked the manual and forum with no luck. Happy to hear recommendations!

If you are not given that option, my first thought is he's not actually contracted to you. If you look at your depth chart screen, is he listed there?

I'm managing Hvidovre Fighters. He's signed to my farm team Hvidovre IK. He has a one year deal and appears first on their depth chart for goalie. The only way I can figure out to move him is a trade - my farm team wants me to give them 38k to promote him to the big club

Maybe there is a mechanic that I'm missing? How would you normally promote? I sent someone down by right-clicking on them from the roster, and that person has an option to be promoted back up, but I don't see that same option on any of the other players on IK.

I'll have to rely on my NHL experience, but it's similar. I can send players down to the AHL or ECHL clubs that are under contract. If I go to the farm club I'll see those players and can recall them. However, the farm club has also contracted players that are not under my contract, so I can't just recall them. What I need to do is offer them a contract first so I can then recall them.

This makes sense because while my farm club is affiliated with me, and uses my players, they also need to fill the roster with other players that they directly contract. Since those players have no contract with me, I can't just recall them, I need to obtain their services first.

This could be it, but I can't offer the guy a contract - only make a transfer offer. Even if I make the offer, I have a game today that I can't play because there are not enough goalies, so can't proceed with a trade or picking up a free agent. I might have to scrap this game and play a new one.

Well, it makes little sense. In most of European leagues, these transfers should be instant moves.

The game usually allows you to immediately sign a player if it's a goalie situation. At worst, you can dress somebody else as a goalie by setting them to position of goalie for one game. But you should be able to sign someone.

I signed a UFA that's better than my backup and proceeded. Thanks for the help, all!
