Training Question

I have my team set to have my assistant handle training. However, there is still an option for me to click "training" and set up training for individual players. Given that I already have the assistant running the training, what happens if I set the training myself? Would that negate the assistant/automatic training?

Also, at what age is training no longer effective?

It will override it until the next time the AI re-evaluates its training plan.

Training is always effective to a degree; for older players it can slow down the aging process a bit. Generally, though, it's a more effective use of resources to help your younger players improve - the improvements the bonuses bring them will tend to be greater than the slowdown in older players' declines. Offensive/Defensive training is best used on players younger than their late 20's, physical training on players a little younger than that, and mental and goaltending a little older.
