Price Changes before purchase?
Hi,
I was just about to buy the game and added to my basket. I come to pay for the game and the price is £26 rather than the £21.something it said on the previous screen? Slightly confused |

No it doesn't really, since all OOTP Developments can do is control the price of their game. They have no say in what taxes or other fees are levied by governments. You'd have to complain to your local politicians about the extra 5.

I appreciate that but nowhere suggests that the price doesn't include tax, it is only when you come to check-out and pay.

It would make much more sense to include it in the price, I agree, but that isn't how it works unfortunately. |

What stores include the price of taxes in the prices listed in their ads, or on the price tags on the shelf? I can't think of any.

£21 is the actual price for the product, so the listing in correct.
As someone pointed out, hardly ever do you see the tax included in the price. I am assuming you are in the UK. If you were in mainland Europe then the price would be different, or if you were in Australia or Hong Kong or any other number of places. OOTP or any other web store does not know what sort of tax you will pay before hand. They give you the actual price of the product and then during the checkout phase they fix your location and then apply the appropriate tax. |

Its £5!! I think if you check one of the threads from release night it worked out "cheapest" in the UK anyway! £5!

I'm sorry but I've never been shocked to not see tax not included in the sticker price and I consider myself fairly well traveled. More often than not most online purchases that need to be taxed handle it the same way as OOTP.

Correct me if I am wrong but seeing as how this can be purchased from all over the world, wouldn't the game have to be listed from every country to have the proper taxes for it to show up properly in the full amount at the end?
Easier to just do it that way and then add on the taxes after I would think |

My understanding of the relevant UK legislation (Price Marking Order 2004) is that eSellerate would be exempt from application of s.4 obliging the trader to indicate the final selling price of the product inclusive of VAT. The Order doesn't apply to traders supplying products within the provision of a service by s.3(2)(a). eSellerate are a service provider involved in the licensing of games, more akin to a plumber supplying parts than a high street games retailer. 3(2)(b) exempts advertisements from the scope of the Order so OOTP Developments is also compliant with UK law.
Regardless, the price inclusive of VAT was supplied to you before acceptance of the contract. |

They do, usually, in the UK.
