Hypothetical: Scratching out PP from nothing

You've got a low level Gold or Silver team with no PPs, and only a handful of gold players of marginal value, maybe a Live diamond player (if you sold them all, you'd get let's say 15K PP or so). You're thinking about scrapping the squad and starting over. How would you construct a team to eke out the most PPs? All defense and speed? HRs despite low BA? Max "stuff" guys in the rotation and pen? Something else?

I've got a somewhat neglected, pack-based team (with little luck pulling anyone worth more than nominal PPs) that's got little promise so thinking about doing something drastic to either scrap and overhaul them or push them to an extreme (defense, power, pitching). Just curious what the vets here would do.

You can make do with good silver and bronze level players in position players, and as relievers, but starting pitchers show huge differences at the different levels. I recommend concentrating your PPs on starting pitching.

If you truly want to maximize Point production, then I personally recommend ignoring your pitching staff. Doing this will decrease the chances of promotion to higher levels where point generation will be diminished no matter what your strategy looks like.

Conversely, if winning is your goal, having a sound staff is paramount.

Done this 5 times now. Far and away, the best thing you can do is totally liquidate your pitching staff and invest in bats. Forget defense, forget pitching, your only goal is to score more total runs than any other team. This is what generates PP the fastest. Keep reinvesting and doubling down for a few weeks until your squad of bats can afford a few players who can hit AND play defense. Finally, once your bats look good to you, you can start investing in high level gold and diamond pitching. I still havent fully invested in pitching on either of my 2 teams who did this approach most recently, but one is in Perfect while the other is in diamond.
