Any luck with draft picks

I’m in 2036 only won one WS (no cheating) my first time really playing for a long time I always play a few years then wanna do something else with a new team etc I stuck this out and become attached to guys and know my whole roster so now I’ll never start over and do something new. Anyways most of my great players are international which is normal I know but when it comes to superstars and my scout is all in the blue great or better other than relievers I never have had a franchise draft pick you guys have the same thing? I still haven’t had a hall of famer that’s MY guy but I don’t have one middle the lineup guy that was incredible or a crazy starter. Effective guys for a few years but nobody Transcending. Has any of you had that guy. I’ve also never had anything better than the 7th pick

do you max out your scouting and development budgets?

there are only a few sure-fire hof-type players each draft, and even that isn't considering injuries and lack of development later on.

are there others that may make the hof? yeah, but they may require better teams and luck compared to the elite guys that simply need to accrue the PAs or IPs.

anyway, don't feel bad for never finding one, although i'd say you should have run into one by now.. just bad luck. pay the best scout and fill that budget up. trust what you see, because it's better than pulling a name out of a hat and it is all you have.

if you think how you make that selection is the cause, adjust what you do and see what happens. maybe, favor power more? or, if in a lower power environment, favor it less?

there's definitely not enough for 1 per team on each side of the ball, in my experience.

Just had a 6th thru 8th round pitcher that broke out as a prospect and dominated in my past season.

My fictional team (https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=300500) is currently largely built through the draft and through trades for minor league players who then developed a bit more in my system and are now starters for my big league club.

One of my starting pitchers, a 4th round draft pick, has won a Pitcher of the Year (aka Cy Young) award. Another, a 1st round draft pick, is a solid middle of the rotation starter.

My young centerfielder, the highest draft pick I have had yet in this league at #5 overall, is currently turning into a star in the league. Our rightfielder was taken in the 2nd round of the same draft and thus far is exceeding my expectations for him.
Our bullpen is currently anchored by another former 1st round pick who transitioned from coming up as a starting pitcher (but with an undeveloped 3rd pitch) and is now becoming one of the better relievers in the league.

You need a great head scout and need to put resources into development. But yeah, it can definitely be done.

And it's what I enjoy doing the most.

Now, back to your original question though, are any of them going to be Hall-of-Famers? Who knows. Too early to tell. But mostly almost surely not. But as NoOne indicated, that's a pretty high bar. Not many of those. Someone is drafting them. Perhaps you just haven't been lucky enough to yet. But it doesn't take HOF players to be lucky with draft picks. Just good players who help your team win.

Sean Markeson is by far the best draft pick I ever made. Coincidentally he was the first pick I made as GM of the Portland Beavers expansion team in one of my games.

i have had great success with drafting. have a long challenge mode sim in which i managed the rockies. led them to 30+ straight playoff appearances. had a few great draft picks. including a kid i took first round. he was near the back end of the round, but projected to be a reliable 1B bat. he turned into so much more. blossomed in the minors and has hit over 600 HR in the majors. .300 BA, top 10 OPS all time.
