Does work ethic effect if a player will develop?

I usually find myself drafting undeveloped players if they have high talents and a high work ethic, because I assume that a high work ethic means that he has a better chance of developing the way he should, and also effects how fast he develops. Is this accurate, or does work ethic effect something else?

As far as I know, in theory it is supposed to affect player development. I don't know if anyone has bothered to study this.

I think it helps determine how close they can get to their potential and whether their potential ratings could go up. Several versions ago I decided not to worry as much about potential ratings and concentrate more on intelligence and work ethic. If they have high work ethic it seems their potential ratings can increase whereas some lazy dude will never reach that potential. This may not be the case with every player but for me I will not be suckered in by a guy with huge potential ratings and a work ethic of something like 1 out of 20.

I always pick the high intellegence/work ethic guy over the not so work heavy guy. Whether it works for me or not? Well who knows. Someone should study that
