*starts typing a team and player from fictional league, sees that nobody else is and carefully backs out of the thread*
Whew, that was close! I almost looked silly there for a moment!

Serious answer:
- Dodgers - The Bambino (obviously never got to see him play but loved reading about him when I was a kid and knew very little about baseball)

Ismael Aguirre, sweetest all around hitter to grace the AUNZBL thus far. It was very sad to see hand and elbow injuries hamper the second half of his career.

Cubs fan for life......
Greg Maddux. His complete mastery on the mound, despite not being the biggest guy, or having the most amazing stuff was just a testament to the idea that you could work hard enough and be successful. |

Florida/Miami Marlins since '93. As far as a favorite player, I don't think I've ever had one. I've always been more of a fan of the name on the front of the jersey than the one on the back.

Baltimore Orioles
Cal Ripken, Jr. I was at his HoF induction. My daughter was 4 years old at the time. While we were having lunch on Saturday, she dumped her lunch all over herself and we went into one of the stores to buy her a clean shirt. On the front it said "Yankees Suck!" and all of the vowels were missing. Under that it said "Can I buy a vowel?" She received lots of attention that day. Our family picture that day was taken with that shirt on. Love it to this day. |

Curt "Bloody Sock" Schilling is my "sports hero" but Dustin Pedroia is my favorite player - if that makes any sense.

Jim Edmonds, Ken Griffey Jr, Ichiro. I have a thing for outfielders apparently. |
