Orcin, you forgot about Alex Reyes.
I really think Harper is a real possibility and considering our track record lately I'm probably way off base. Ticket sales are declining and I think Dewitt gives the green light on a big name player/big $$$. The fans, including myself are getting really tired of us kicking tires every season. Haha, the guy who is never healthy? I have zero faith he will ever play regularly and contribute. Anything you get from him is a gift.
Damn shame though, talent is through the roof. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Man... 503 replies? What are they all about? Lol what a fantastic thread. I did see something about Willie Calhoun, and how great he is for whatever reason in this game. One time he was part of a 300 HR Texas Rangers team for me in a league in 2019, also batted like .290 or something. Wonder how he will produce IRL.

After reading Mozeliak’s comments about consistently having a winning team without a franchise player in the post-Pujols era, it is clear to me that the Cardinals have no intention of pursuing Harper or Machado. I don’t have much enthusiasm going into this offseason. I think in order to replicate a Cards franchise in OOTP, you need a house rule that you cannot sign any free agent that costs you a draft pick.
Recently I started a 2018 Cardinals simulation where I changed the ratings for all of the key players based on their actual stats. I used 2018 for everyone but Fowler. For him, I used his career average which was still a considerable downgrade from the ratings before adjustment. Mikolas got a good bump but a lot of players didn’t change all that much. I thought it might be interesting to see how that turns out. Not sure how far I will get with it. |

Have not updated in awhile, but I am in June of the 2022 season with my Cardinals.
Although I am in first place by 1.5 games over the Cubs, the team has scuffled compared to the last few seasons. The 2020 team won 95 games or so and 2021 over 100, and I am at 36-32 at around June 15. Anyway, the biggest difference seems to be with the pitching staff. Many of the same guys are around -- starters Weaver, Martinez, Mikolas, along with Oscar De La Cruz (a trade acquisition) -- but the common theme seems to be home runs and walks, hit by pitch all being way up. My closer, Michael Feliz, who dominated from the time I acquired him in late 2020 and all through 2021, has been horrible to the point where right now he is just a guy in the bullpen. Anyway, it's too early in the AM to chase numbers, but could this be a catcher's issue -- Austin Hedges has been the primary catcher since late 2020 -- or something to do with the pitching coach. Just looking for suggestions to see how I might be able to ferret it out. Last edited by rink23; 10-22-2018 at 07:43 AM. |

Possible catostraphic crash -- dynasty may be done
Went to play OOTP today, game was slow to load and sluggish went I go into it.
So I opted out and shut the game down. Rebooted computer, came back two hours later and started up OOTP. Game loaded, but the continue game option was not available. In the load game option -- of which there at least four seasons in the saved games folder -- there were no options. Tried to install a backup -- process started but seemed to go into not responding mode almost immediately. Not sure, what I am going to do. Maybe it's just time to call it a career although the original plan was to at least play out the 2022 campaign. |

First find your save and back up (zip) to a thumb drive.
Second, completely uninstall OOTP from computer. Third, run a disk clean up function. Fourth, have a drink. Fifth, reinstall OOTP Sixth, transfer your save from thumb drive to new OOTP folder. Seventh, load game Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Game refuses to load to thumb drive.
I think their may be some corrupted boxscores, because it sights box something or other is an issue. I tell it to skip it. Says next one is corrupted. Happened for about 10 in a row before I bagged it. And so on. I've been messing with another person's suggestion -- one of the developers -- and I think I have messed it up beyond resurecction. |

That's too bad. Maybe you can go back to an earlier point with an older backup? |

Started a 2018 Cardinals franchise on Challenge Mode just to see what that is like and somehow they are killing it through the first 3rd of the season. 50 odd games into the season and they have a 10 game lead on second place. They have had a 13 game winning streak and the Offense and Pitching are ranked in the top 3 or 4 in every category except stolen bases.
The only move that I have made was grab Jose Abreu off the trade block in a straight up trade for Gyorko, who was not getting much playing time and not performing when he did. I need a catcher as Yadi has already fallen off a cliff in the game (sub .200 BA). I feel I need to keep Carson Kelly around as somehow he has been flagged as the undisputed team leader (over Yadi? Over Wainwright?). Like others, I will probably make Harper a target in Free Agency, even though my outfield is performing well. |

2025 - Another season, another terrible ending.. at least to the regular season. After leading the central all season, the Cubs come storming back and we end in a tie. They beat us in the one game playoff to win the central.
We beat San Francisco in the Wild Card game and head to Washington to play the 2024 World Series Champions. Our ace, Aaron Nola is out for the season so it's going to be an uphill battle. Mr. $47M Bryce Harper hit just 0.229 with 24 hrs and 83 rbis... he seems to be declining and in hindsight that was a terrible contract I signed him to. We lost 11-3 in game 1 and win 7-2 in game 2.. back to STL for games 3 and 4. |
