Farm Teams

I saw that expansion teams now get farm teams. Does that also apply to custom leagues?

Also, this doesn't have to happen right away but could we eventually have the option to add the minor leagues to custom leagues that were originally created without them?

Not working for custom leagues yet, it's on the wishlist of things to add.

Adding a minor league in mid-game would probably be very complicated. We do add the WHA to historical games, but in that case the data is there from the beginning and we're just making a dormant league active. Maybe at some point, but I wouldn't count on seeing it soon. It'd probably come as a spinoff of us finding a way of having new leagues appear in the modern game.

How does OOTP manages to do it? Couldn't something similar be achieved?

No, there are fundamental differences in the way each game's setup process works. We wouldn't be able to handle it the same way they do.

Yeah, well, I understand. But, I'd assume, the people from FHM have complete access to OOTP and how they do things, no? I understand that doing things similarly to OOTP would require a fundamental re-write of FHM, of course, but would it be for the best?

I'm a complete layman on game development, so what do I know. It's just, I don't know, frustrating? As a long-time OOTP player (almost 8 years now), I often just wish I had a hockey-playing OOTP.

They do have one custom league set up that is based on the current NHL so I don't see how it would be a problem to duplicate the AHL and ECHL in the same manner(as far as expansion is concerned).

I guess you could take the current modern NHL and turn it into a custom league and that would guarantee that you would have expansion farm teams .

No, it's not possible to create a new farm team or make an existing team a farm team after the start of the game.
