It would be really interesting if Cole turns out to be like Sonny Gray and can't pitch in Yankee Stadium....

Anthony Rendon to the Angels. Maybe now Trout will get more than one career postseason hit.

But does anybody realistically think he's *only* a $36 million pitcher now? Apply this same "logic" to buying a car Person buys a new car for $500 a month for 7 years. Month 84: can you believe I'm paying $500 a month for this 7 year old clunker? What a rip off. Just seven years ago I was paying $500 a month for a brand new car!!!111One No. He won't be a $36 million pitcher *in* 9 years. But, he is a $324 million dollar pitcher *over* the next nine years Last edited by CBeisbol; 12-12-2019 at 11:07 AM. |

Do batters swing and miss differently in New York?

You seem to forget the part where they signed him to a new, more massive deal 3 years after trading for him

Anyone think that part of the reason Cole selected the Yankees was about legacy? Don't get me wrong I know money played the big decision maker but, before he signed, I was thinking about the choices.
With the Angels, Dodgers, and Yankees favored to sign him. I began to think about his long term. If any part of him was concerned about legacy then going to the Dodgers or Yanks would be the best bet. Those two teams offer the best chance for winning. If he went to the Angels then he is more likely to have less help. Just a thought I had. |

Yeah not sure if legacy even played a part but being he has a better chance of getting to the Hall having signed with the Yanks then he would have by signing with the Angels.

I'm not sure if winning titles with the Yankees gets you a lot of respect anymore.

Oh i'm not saying that the championships will mean more because he is with the Yanks. I'm just saying he has a better chance to get the stats needed for the Hall by signing with the Yanks(or the Dodgers if he went to them) over the Angels.

LOL, no, but I think that the NY faithful got in Gray's head. Gray had a good year in Cincy once he got away from NY. Not everyone likes the spotlight that bright.

The Reds' pitching coaches are better than the Yankees'. Or, at least, worked better with Gray. |

Most important no but definitely up there. K's, ERA,Wins, and Cy Youngs are still important to them. But a pitcher with excellent post season success is huge as well and I believe Cole will have more of that with the Yanks compared to the Angels.

With Jacoby's contract gone - not signing Didi - Coles contract is not going to hurt Yankees with the cap much next year it is about the future and the future CBA.
