did you change the park modifiers? I am currently using Gambo's 2007 chart and making sure that all the #'s are correct as of 1882....also what other unique settings do u have? while I dont care if Ruth hits 714 i am hoping he hits over 500 unless i draft him for the White Sox which only 2 players from 1910-1973? have hit 20 HR in a single season in Old Comiskey.

How about Dick Allen, Mike Schmidt, and Richie Ashburn, some of the Phillies all-time greats.

Chicagofan76 - I will post my league strategy settings and the other options I used for the sim. I used neutral park factors for all teams all seasons. Old Comiskey Park probably didn't have anythng to do with the fact that the Whit Sox never had any great sluggers. What is Gambo's Chart? What information are you using from it?

What is the exact database that you used and the link to it? What were your key settings for retire according to history, etc.?

I used the default in-game DB and the neutralized stats option.

A lot of good numbers there. One thing that struck me - seems like the winning pcts of the 300-win club (and especially the almost rans) is kinda low. I think most members of the 300-win club are closer to .600 win pct. There's even a few guys in your sim with sub-.500 records.
I wonder if the RP settings are actually too low in some of the earlier eras. Just a thought. Thx for sharing. |

TribeFanInNC - The RP and CL settings I used were chosen because they seemed to produce the closest IPouts per Relief Apearance in each time period.
Some of the Win% for SP's do seem low, but I think this is primarily due to the competetive balance in OOTP. I posted some real vs sim comparisons of pitchers, and their K/BB/HR Allowed rates were all very close to their real life rates. It is possible that in some cases that the AI is allowing SP's to pitch too long in games and they actually end of pitching themselves out of potential wins - I really don't know if that is a valid argument though since my league IPouts per GS was matched to the historical values each season. ScoMan - I'll see what I can do with regards to a QS. |

With this much testing and research, I really hope that Markus might consider this as default settings.

Just curious about the reasoning behind the config changes. Especially the tag-up ones, since IMO it looks as though tag ups are a bit low.

I set the Defensive Influence to 1 in the config file.
I did this because I thought the difference between the best and worst fielders are too great in historical simulations. I could have chosen a different value, but this basically made all fielders equal except for their FLD% (Error rating). I figured that if I did this no pitchers in the league would get an unfair advantage or disadvantage in the simulation. I set the Game Tagup from Third Frequency to 50 in the config file. I set the Game Tagup from Third Success to 50 in the config file. I did this because in other simulations I found that there were issues with the OF Assists Modifier. I probably could have altered the TagUp from Second frequency, but this is a change I made in the config file months ago. I never bothered to switch it. I simply noted it as one of the settings I used. I also think that fewer Runs Scoring on Sac Flies is a good thing in terms of getting league R/G corrrect in al time periods. I set the Game Bunting Success to 300 in the config file. I did this because in the modern era in which one league has a DH, OOTP struggles to produce the correct Sac per Ab ratio, and the modifier climbs higher and higher. I could have left this at 100 since I did not use a DH in my simulation. I set the Game Bunt for Hit Success to 10 in the config file. I did this because player Bunt for Hit ratings are not conected to their Contact (BABIP ratings). I did this just in case any player imported with a hih Bunt for Hit rating. Such players could otehrwise rack up too many hits and steal league hits away from other players. I set the SP Stamina IPGS Weight to 100 in the config file. I set the SP Stamina CGP Weight to 1 in the config file. I did this because I wanted to model SP IPouts per Game Started throughout history instead of historical league CG%. |

From the Load Screen select:
Game Preferences>Troubleshooting tab>"open folder containing file 'app.cfg' button Right Click on the file called "engine" and select "Open with" then choose to open it with Notepad. When you open the file with notepad you can edit some of the game engine values. Be careful when editing this file. Just replace the default values with ones you'd prefer. Then save the file when done. I suggest restarting OOTP after making any changes to make sure they take effect. |
