ZiPS vs ratings, occasional discrepancies
Hi all,
I'm relatively new to the community; I've tried to research this before posting but I apologize in advance if the answer is already out there and I just missed it. As far as I can tell, ratings are largely based on ZiPS projections. It seems like a pretty tight relationship too in most cases. But every once in a while I come across a player whose ratings and OOTP performance are nowhere near what ZiPS is projecting. A good example is Dylan Bundy. ZiPS projects around 2.5 WAR and a 104 ERA+ over around 160 innings. OOTP is less sanguine. Questions: 1. How uncommon is this? Does this happen every year to a few players? 2. Are these oversights that slipped through or intentional choices made by the dev team? 3. How often are player ratings changed by the dev team in updates (e.g. Jon Gray last year) after the initial release? Thanks in advance for your time, guys. |

There is a sticky thread in the Bug Reports forum to post any anomalies that you find with the roster set. Everything you post there will be looked at by the developers, and changes will be made if they find it to be appropriate. Players do get tweaked often.
