Trades After Deadline

Curious what others think about this. I always notice a fair number of trades made after the trade deadline in OOTP, and I seem to get as many offers after the deadline as I do before. Of course the players involved have to clear waivers or the deal is kaput. In real life, are there many trades made after the trade deadline? Is the game modelling this correctly, or should those trades be rarer than they seem to be? Further, I'm not one who checks the waiver wire every day. More like once every two or three weeks, as I usually sim a week at a time. I often think that if I'd known a given trade was going to be made after the deadline, I'd have put a claim in to stop it. Would it be an idea to have a news item or a personal message (which would stop the sim if we're set to ignore news items when simming) telling us about so-and-so being placed on waivers for purposes of an after-deadline trade? This may not be the way it works in real life, but in real life you're not playing a week's worth of games in five seconds! I'd like to know about those post-deadline trades before they happen, not read about them after the fact.

Trades aren't made that often after the July 31st trade deadline, mainly because of the waiver reason. Even rarer are trades that are made after August 31st, because players acquired after August 31st aren't eligible for the postseason roster (since most teams making trades that late are pushing for the playoffs).

Most of the trades I've seen in OOTP past the deadline are minor league deals which don't really happen in MLB that often, since minor league players of any value would generally get claimed without question (since they make minimal salaries) and how many trades do you see for AA roster filler?

There are several trading rules MLB has in place that aren't currently in the game.

One thing I'd really like to see - related but not necessarily the same issue - is the number of players whining post-deadline about going to another team, and a definite cut in the bloddy reports about "Player Hangnail isn't happy in Gotham City and wants out!"

That stuff just drives me insane.
