Need A Challenge

I have a fictional game going and I have won the last 3 championships. I need a way to keep my interest in the game. Or for that matter any game.

Any recommendations? I pretty much build from within my system, so I'm not making any unrealistic, crazy trades or signings.

I would be willing to go the MLB route, or create a different fictional game.

MLB Expansion. No Expansion Draft. Small or Tiny Market Team with Owner who doesn't like using money. In the NL West

Do you play with commissioner mode on? If you do turn it off. It's way to easy to go over budgets etc without repercussions. Choose a small market team and good luck winning. If you still win then keep adding more fog of war elements like having coaches on, reducing the accuracy of scouting etc. If you STILL consistently win after all this then try playing stats only.

This is good. Add a house rule that you cannot trade with your former team.

What I do is act as God-king-commissioner of my league, and I have a yearly owner's meeting in my head to determine what two changes should happen in my league next based on what would benefit most of the clubs. For example, two teams might get bigger stadiums, or the league might expand by two teams. This has helped me to be more invested in what's going on beyond my team and be more engaged with the rest of the league.

Take a league structure you're used to using OR put a spin on a new creation, then implement all or part of Bobble's Random Event thingey:

Try stats only. No stars, no ratings. I sim 5-7 years, and then start with an expansion team. AI trading - hard/neutral. AI ratings I use 0-67-22-11, although sometimes I'll tweak that a bit.

Stats only is not for everyone, but I've found over the years, it's the only way it keeps my interest in this great game! I have scouting on, and generally low, although sometimes I forget to change it so it's on normal.

Some good recommendations; it might also help if we knew more about your game.

Klew, what are your settings? Such as Trade AI, information/Fog of War settings (are you using the stars for overall, potential) etc...

I thought I kept my Klewshire stuff (excel document, logos, etc), but it doesn't appear so.

stats only is definitely more fog of war = tougher decisions...

but it's not difficult work... it's just more work to figure out the "ratings" and it comes with a bit less confidence in the preciseness of those educated guesses.

also, when the track record doesn't exist you actually have less feedback than in RL... it's 100% a guess. that's not harder to play, just more random, which will reduce results a bit. still the same questions and methods, essentially.

Join an online league. Preferably the GUBA. You won't find that so easy.

We'll be on 18 next season with at least one opening. I encourage you to sign up for a challenge.
