Why are people so upset over something they have nothing invested in? OOTP (and Jim) owe you nothing as far as a new game is concerned. You aren't a Kickstarter backer, Early Access adopter, investor, etc. so why the hatred?

Well Said Cod!

Wanting an update isn't bad... DEMANDING that they "owe" you one is where the burn is coming from...

I think it is because many of us have invested years in FOF. We are sick and tired of FOF8. We don't know which way to go at this point. We could start implementing house rules to improve it, or sit and wait for FOF9. House rules are disruptive to a league, but we sure can't play 8 forever. This has been our hobby for years, we are invested in our leagues.

I think to some it would be just good manners to give a small update. Even, "sorry guys not sure. Might be 4Q of 2020 but can't promise anything". Jim has gone above and beyond for us over the years, but that doesn't mean we don't get to feel frustrated with this silence policy.

I would say that upset isn't the right word there are a vocal handful sure but the rest of us is just Excitement, nothing else. It's ridiculous I know but the FOF engine isn't perfect but it's the best we have for football but playing that game feels like I stepped in a time machine to 1996. OOTP has an incredible interface and the idea of FOF moving to that is the best news we've ever had as text based football fans.

While owed nothing you are right, the company came out almost 2 years ago stating they were hoping for a fall release, that seemingly got pushed back to a winter release... Since then Jim has released an update for FOF8 which was extremely disheartening.

Ultimately it's just like a perfect match and I think more than anything people are just worried it will never come out and we'll be stuck with FOF.

Speak for yourself Drew. Couldn't care less about OOTP's involvement. This is all about Jim IMO, and whether he can improve the mechanics. If he can't the game is dead in the water and nothing else will matter.

This wouldn't be a bad thing. Jim would continue improving his product. Yes, we lose the GUI, but outside of that FOF isn't bad. Each update brought depth.

Until the OOTP team states that they are not developing this anymore then it is being worked on.
