Alternative Sound Pack

Hi All,

I went through all the sound files and did quite a bit of editing to improve the level balance between samples, fixed the EQ in some samples to have less low frequencies, better fade in / outs, cut some in length, completely replaced the stock background crowd loops with much longer / less repetitive STEREO sound loops (warning: these will use more RAM on your system). I also changed out the intro / walkup files and shortened the 7th inning stretch files. Lastly I removed a number of irritating sound fx (well, they irritated me anyhow!). The end result is a nice matched set of samples to compliment the new OOTP 20 animations (will work with OOTP 19 as well).

UPDATE: New Version 1.1 with improved ambient sounds, several different crowd sounds for foul balls and a new set of custom bunt sounds.

Download the folder called sounds at the link below and copy it over your sounds folder in documents/outoftheparkdevelopments/ootpbaseball20 (works with ootp19 also). You may want to make a copy of your original sounds folder first, in case you want to roll back to original sounds.

Cheers

...don't forget: you'll need to re-copy this folder to your OOTP directory anytime you patch the game (patching overwrites the sounds folder)

Nice, want to try these. But when I open it I don't see a folder, just a bunch of .ogg files in dropbox.

Ah got it, thanks!

Loving them. I think the audio flows much better.
I hope to see, or rather hear, new sounds at some point.
Good job!

Thanks. The default hit sounds are pretty good I think. I recorded the new bunt sounds myself and they have the advantage of no crowd sound behind them, but I have not been able to record any convincing squared up base hits as yet (minus crowd sounds). The library samples I've found are pretty weak IMO. I need to hire a college kid with a wooden bat for an afternoon and do some field recordings

Thank you so much for this. Now that I'm playing out most of my games in 3-D things like this make it even more immersive.

Occasionally I will get an extremely loud crowd sound, completely out of proportion to the rest of the sound. Is there any way to identify what sound file is doing this?

You would have to play the sounds individually to determine the offender. Windows Media Player may play OGG files. You can also use VLC player. It's free and it also plays videos. You can use Audacity to modify the offending file. It is also free. Look for the SOUNDS folder in your DATA folder. The location depends on your installation method. possible Z:\OOTP Baseball 20\data\sounds

Is it a fairly short sound?
