Didn't notice this thread until just recently. This is an awesome project and something I've worked on a bit myself.

If you'd like a bit of a head start next time you do a season let me know and I can send you some pics. I have a bunch sorted out by when the player changed teams and/or uniforms were updated. If you give me a year I can compile the 5 or so years leading up to that season and you may have a good head start.

This would also be great if file name extensions are ever implemented in the game such as

Bob_Watson_1979.jpg would import Bob Watson's picture. All you'd need to do is add the year to the end with a basic file renamer.

I'll keep that in mind, Gambo. I'm not sure which season I'll do next as I like to bounce around a bit to keep things fresh.

Eventually I think I should do a "v2.0" of each pack to incorporate some of the better pictures that have been posted on this forum since. While doing that, if people would use 'em, I might add an additional folder with manager pictures, and maybe even another folder with players who got traded in mid-season, but didn't stay on with the team the following year (like Matty Alou on the '72 A's, Rickey Henderson on the '93 Jays, that sort of thing).

Next Season

I don't expect you to take requests as like recent posts I fully appreciate the work involved, however would request you consider 1946 or earlier as we now do have the Conlon images available as a key source. I would like to join the list of those who have expressed their admiration for your substantial contributions.

I would like to have another 1950s season done before the year is out, as it's now the only decade since the '40s to have less than three seasons done for it. So Gambo, if you see this and you have anything relevant for 1954 I'll take whatever I can get

The late '80s cards look to be difficult to extract pictures from, due to player heads poking out of frames and having lettering superimposed behind them and so on. Might be a while before I feel like tackling that era. As mentioned I'll be returning to the '50s next...

Is there a link to a 1984 season pack that is currently working? The one mentioned above no longer seems to function.

I had a feeling that seasons would fall "out-of-print" if I kept relying on hosting sites like that, but when I started posting these I wasn't sure what the level of interest would be. So it might be about time for me to get a more permanent home for them to keep this situation from recurring. In the meantime, if you want to PM me with your email address I could send 1984 to you as an attachment for now if you want.

Right now 1950 is done and I am plowing through '51-'52 while I have free time over the holidays, so there will be a complete run of 1947-'55 available. At that time I want to put out all the previous photopacks in revised form to correct a few mistakes, move some photos around and make use of new discoveries that have been posted in the epic photopack thread over the past few weeks and months.

A short update on what's coming up. All the packs have been revised as well as slightly expanded with new folders containing Opening Day managers and players who switched teams in midseason and didn't appear on that team the following season. 1950 through '52 and 1982 are also now done and will be put out alongside the revised seasons.

I'm trying to find a free web host that would let me house all these files on one simple page so they won't keep disappearing again, but I keep finding services with a per-file size limit of 5 MB, when I would need at least 10 (The biggest photopack, 1998, is currently 9.35 MB). I guess I could try putting them on a cloud server if need be. I haven't run my own website since the Geocities era! All these new options are kind of confusing me now...

I'd suggest dropbox. Simple to use and works great.

The tutorials seem straightforward enough, I'll see about getting everything up with a public folder link tomorrow

OK, everything's up, you should be able to get them here.

So about the new partial season players folder - this folder contains players who switched teams in midseason and did not appear on that team the following season (Rickey Henderson on the '93 Blue Jays, Randy Johnson on the '98 Astros, etc). Usually they switched teams in a midseason trade, but not always - sometimes they got released by their team and then got picked up by another team, so I couldn't call it the traded players folder and be totally accurate, you see If they were returning to a team they'd already played for recently, I usually didn't bother to give them a pic - Grant Jackson, for example, after being released from the Royals wound up back on the Pirates for 1 game in 1982, but he's not in the folder because he was just on the Pirates in 1981, and when '81 is done you could just take his photo from there because it would be the same anyway. I tried to catch all these players switching around in midseason transactions, but if I missed any you could let me know.

To recap, there are now a total of twenty-seven packs covering the following seasons: 1947-'55, '58, '61-'64, '69-'72, '77, '82-'86, '92-'93 and 1998. The earlier ones are the most heavily revised: 1958 was very heavily redone because that was the first one I ever started work on, way back in 2008, and gave up on because even just five years ago it was much harder to find obscure player photos than it is now. So a very special thanks to all who ever contributed to the various photo threads in this subforum - this would not have been possible without you

You should look into this...hopefully at some point you won't even need to worry about separate folders. Just one big file.
