Poor quality, but on the left is a photo of Jim Armstrong with the Indianapolis Indians. It's from the Indianapolis News of June 27, 1969. On the right, Armstrong is shown with Arizona State University. The second photo is from the Arizona Republic of June 27, 1967.

Photo of Basey posted on previous page.

Bill Gleason

SABR's Cliff Blau gave me the tip that William J. "Bill" Gleason should qualify for the Sharman Society, as catcher Gleason joined the Pittsburgh Pirates in August of 1920, but never played in a regular season major league game.

The photo shows Gleason with the Foundation Shipyard baseball team of the Columbia-Willamette Shipbuilders' Baseball League in Oregon. The photo is from the Oregon Journal (Portland) of March 31, 1918.

Baseball-reference.com mixes up Gleason's record over that of a several players, and they should be combined:

One is Will Gleason:

Another is S. O. Gleason
https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=gleaso002s--

Another is Unknown-first-name Gleason
https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=gleaso005---

This player's Sporting News contract card is:
https://digital.la84.org/digital/col...coll3/id/74391

Gleason's obit indicated that he was born March 23, 1892 in Portland, OR, and died Oct. 22, 1941 in Portland.
