utility for editing in manager mode
Before using, please read this: DO NOT use the utility to disable manager mode and then edit the league structure in the game. This can cause all sorts of problems with your manager career if you do so. You MUST edit the league structure in the game, which is possible even in manager mode.
This little utility can be used to temporarily disable manager mode which then allows you to edit things that you normally could not. Afterwards, you can then renable manager mode and continue playing. Please note that this was made by me (old timer) and not .400 Software Studios, so all questions should be directed to me (of course, there should be others who can help as well.) You DEFINITELY SHOULD back up your league before using it. In other words, use at your own risk! Finally, please follow the instructions provided in the readme.txt file which is in the zip file. old timer p.s. - It will now back up the only file it modifies so even if you don't back up (but you should!) and something goes wrong, I can probably get you back to where you were before. Update:
I've had no problems with editing the league structure by first adding the teams while in manager mode and then disabling manager mode to move players around, edit the TV revenue, etc. The only thing that you shouldn't do is disable manager mode and then edit the league structure as this will definitely cause problems. Hopefully this clears things up. If not, let me know. |

potatoman - Could you give me more information? Did you copy the utility to the league folder that you're currently using? Did you exit the game first before running it? When you ran it, did you get any errors?
Let me know exactly what happened and I'm sure I'll be able to help. |

Having some trouble after finishing some editing. I have a fictional player custom league in manager mode and used this utility to edit Home Parks for each computer controlled team. Now whenever I attempt to open up the League - Manager Screen the game crashes with the error:
OOTP5 has caused an error in OOTP5.EXE. OOTP5 will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer. Once I click on Close the computer freezes. This happens every time now. While editing the Home Parks I also edited the following information for each team that could have been done without the manager mode turned off: Nickname Abbreviation (for some teams only) AAA Team Name AA Team Name A Team Name Manager I am currently running v5.10 of OOTP5. Please Help, this is my friends league and I would hate for him to have to start all over. Thanks. Last edited by couriers; 04-17-2003 at 04:54 PM. |

I wanted to thank old timer for his quick response to my problem even though I had pretty much already figured out that it was due to my negligence instead of something that his program might have caused. I corrupted the manager.dat file prior to using the editor but I hadn't realized it until afterwards.
This is an excellent utility that really did help accomplish what I was looking for. BTW, through my trials and error I was able to discover an application for this utility that might not have been thought of already. If you turn manager mode off and then load a league you will be able to start a new manager career. Just make sure to use the utility again to turn manager mode back on prior to doing anything else. This will allow you to start a new career from any given point in your leagues history. In other words, if you are in year 2 game 15 it will act as if you are a new manager taking over for a particular team from that point forward. Thanks again old timer for the help. |

couriers: Cool idea! Why didn't I think of that? I'll try it out in a historical league that I've had going for a while.
I was surprised recently when I checked in this forum and seen this thread stickied. I'm glad to see that others are finding it useful too. And thanks for all the compliments too! |

Just remember to backup your files people. I discovered the new manager career creation possibility by losing a file and then stumbling upon it. Necessity is the mother of invention. Last edited by couriers; 04-21-2003 at 02:04 AM. |
