Another Newbe question
Yes a New guy here.. 1st time with OOTP.
I went over the 13 pages of the general questions and found Nothing like I need.. I want to make a league of old time teams, 86 Mets, 71 Pittsburgh, 70 Baltimore and so on.. Single season so I can replay and replay. HOW do I do it? If I start new game it starts a 2012 league, If I start History league I cant figure out how to import the old teams. I read where Many start leagues using Classic Players, I don't want that.. They should have ootp for dummies forum, like me... Thanks..... |

Yes, this isn't too difficult to do.
1. Create a league, any type at all. I would recommend having the start year for the year you want to play in. 2. Enter Commish Mode 3. Go to league setup, functions, Edit League Structure. 4. Delete the teams you started the league with (providing you don't want them) 5. On the same screen, there is an option to "Import Historical Team". Import the teams you want, arrange divisions as desired. 6. Generate a new schedule. That's it in a nutshell. This will get you what you want. I don't think I missed any steps, but if I did someone will come along and mention it. |

Turn off Player Development. I am doing the exact same thing, so if you want to do it over and over again you don't want players aging.
I also turn off injuries, suspensions, and position player fatigue, but that's just me. Note that players will retire after each season you play, but you could conceivably put them back on their teams and keep playing for a century. |

You might also want to disable the ability of AI teams to trade players.

Oops! Totally forgot about that! Also turn off all AI roster moves as the AI might try to release players and sign players that other teams have released. |

I would also recommend that - once you've got it all set up the way you want (logos, ballparks, all of your settings, etc.) - go to your saved games folder and do a copy & paste on your league so you can play it again in case something screws up, it doesn't turn out the way you like, or you just want to do it again.
