Is 'Force Lineup Spot vs...' broken?
Hey guys
Just wondering if the force lineup spot options are broken? I have Luis Aparicio set to always hit 8th: However, he often bats elsewhere in the lineup. The last 2 games, even, he's hitting in the 2-hole: I don't want him hitting anywhere near 2nd. How can I prevent this?

How exactly do you have your lineups and depth charts set up?
I would take it he's the backup from your starting SS, who hits 2nd? If so, the force lineup tries to put him lower when it subs him in, but it's more of a "suggest" than a force (mostly because when we're subbing players in, we try to respect a little of the set lineup, since you probably also don't want him 8th and simply move Fisk to 2nd). One thing you could try would be decide who you would want filling in in the 2-spot, and set them. So, for example, if you wanted Sheffield to move up, you can try to set his force_lineup_spot to 2nd, so when the usual 2nd hitter subs out, it may go through and try out Sheffield in the above spot (but generally speaking, it shouldn't move him there otherwise). I'm not positive that will work, but it might be something to try. |

He's my starting SS vs RHP, and my backup vs LHP (Simmons is set to hit at 9, as per below): I've checked to see if this only happens when he's playing as backup vs LHP but it often happens when he's starting vs RHP too. I do have a very active depth chart vs RHP, so that's probably what it comes down too for those instances. That game from the OP was vs a LHP, with the only change being Simmons playing 2B for Betts, and Aparicio covering SS. So I guess the AI wanted to respect the rest of the lineup and so just moved Trout up to 1st-spot and slotted Aparicio in behind him. Funnily enough, in this case, I would've been happier with Fisk hitting 2, or even Aparicio at lead-off. Anyway, I'll try your suggestions Matt. Thanks again. I guess I could always go 7-day lineups but I've avoided those up until now because I'm asleep during the first couple weeks of each day.
