Expansion teams in separate major league somehow stuck as minor league affiliates elsewhere

Relevant files uploaded under zip folder named "fuzzyhat.zip"

I have a 119 season save of a fictional world that has a dozen or so major leagues with all but one of these leagues not having any minor league system at all. I've done multiple expansions of leagues as well in the past with no issue until this weird situation I'm seeing now.

One of my leagues is "Arab League Baseball" and I added four expansion teams in the 2017 offseason, the Suez Sabres, Bahrain Blitz, Muscat Threshers, and Oran Rattlesnakes. Those teams completed the 2018 season seemingly normally but in the 2019 spring training, those teams all of a sudden found themselves without rosters. And adding fictional players automatically just led to those players disappearing.

I then noticed in the transactions log that there was somehow, these four teams all are linked together and somehow acting as affiliates of the Kansas City Cougars of my alternate MLB. And looking at the transaction log, they're all acting as if they're one big organization (along with KC's actual minor league team Topeka).

The Arab League is set as a major league, they are not an affiliate in any way with the MLB. But on Kansas City's screen, they're all minor league affiliates and the transactions suggest that KC has moved players around interchangeably between the four teams.

There doesn't seem to be any way to get these teams to unlink from each other and be the four separate major league teams. I even tried moving them to the AAA league (where there's an option to set affiliates) but when you move them in, they're listed as not being affiliated.

Even if I set one of these teams as affiliated with a different team, they stay linked with Kansas City. For example, I assigned Bahrain to be Montreal's minor league team as a test, but now both KC and Montreal are listed as having them in the system.

My newest backup is four seasons behind that so I really don't want to restart progress from there. Please advise on if there's a way to fix this so that the four expansion ALB teams are their own separate entities in that league as they're supposed to be.

Thanks for any assistance.

I've continued on with my backup and I didn't find a fix for this once it happens, but I did seem to find what triggers it after playing around with a backup file.

I tried expanding in my backup and it did this again, except this time the expansion teams were attached to my MLB Phoenix team. The thing they and Kansas City had in common in the other save is that they both were champions of a multi-league tournament. After the season in each league, I take the champions into a November tournament.

If you expand while the tournament teams are active, this issue happens. But waiting until after the tournament and de-selecting the teams from the tournament seems to allow expansion to happen as normal.
